Encrypted Football on Hotbird

With the nights getting longer(!) I am planning my winter
football viewing campaign.

So far, from web searches, I have identified the following on Hotbird:
ART Sport
Canal+ Poland
Supersport2
Tele + Bianco

as likely providers.

Can anyone suggests suitable ways to access these programs (including
paying if the price is right). I am also thinking of getting a dual LNB
for Astra as well.

Unless you really are stuck with a fixed dish, you could definitely offset costs of cards by spending cash on a motorised system

Most of the Arabic channels on Astra and Arabsat, Turkish at 42E, French, Eurosport (both analogue) and of course the Italian, Spanish and Portuguese, can be had free from subscription.

Plus you then have a fighting chance of getting the direct feeds

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"

Thats the trouble with this hobby! Yes I could get my 80cm dish
motorised but there is so much even on one satellite that I
wanted to explore my options first. I'm quite relieved that I got
a CI receiver with CAM and card programmer at a "deal" price
in the first place.

Maybe I should now head for the motorised dishes for beginners
forum!

Depends as well which football you're after. Hotbird is quite good for the champions league, as Swiss, Croatian and Slovenian all show matches on Tuesday and Wednesday (all encrypted in viaccess 1), and the Italians (in Seca 1) show at least Wednesday games if not Tuesday as well, plus the French on TF1 on Wednesday (in TPScrypt). And there is a free to air game on Wednesday on German TV too- I think it will be on Sat 1 this year, which is on Astra.

If you're interested in Spanish league, then last season there were feeds nearly every week at 10 degrees East, usually encrypted in Viaccess 1 though occasionally FTA.

And apparently Turksat (42 degrees East) was the place for free Premiership last season, though I can't get this satellite due to a badly placed tree, and I think this was an analogue channel.

As for subscriptions packages, there are a number, including those on Hotbird, which carry the Premiership and other main leagues, though buying a card abroad is pretty expensive. The cheapest provider at the moment seems to be Premiere on Astra, where the Sports package in Germany is only 20 Euros a month. But you can add another £100 a year to buy a sub. here, and, though they cover all the top leagues, they are not the best, I believe, for regular premiership games

Oh yes, and the only regular free to air game each week that I know of from the major leagues (Turksat aside) is the big Saturday night Spanish game, which, up till now, has always been available on Astra (19 degrees); though if you consider the French a big league as well, there was often a live game on TV5 Asie on Hotbird too. Aside from this, the main matches tend to be on pay TV channels, as they are here (in England); many of which (such as telepiu) will now, I believe, require an official card, being encrypted in seca 2/ irdeto 2.

It looks as if Eastern Europe stations with weak encryption
might be a starting point. TVM, I will keep the research
going and report back if I find anything interesting.

My System: I bet on red. If I lose, I double the bet on red again. I continue with this until I lost everything.

Hi there football fans! I just wondered if there are any news regarding the Premiership football options?
I am in the process of installing a motor and pointing it to 30 west.

Maybe we should have a separate area in this forum just for football?!

16 East appears to have the best coverage for fans of UK football, and its fTA

TV Sport RO on 5 east has also been good for FTA premiership this season, with up to 4 Spanish league games live each weekend as well. And MBC2 on 26 East has one 3 pm Saturday Premiership game live FTA too. Check here for listings;

Oh yes, and NTV Turkey on 42 East also has FTA Premiership, though there was talk a while back of it changing to a different beam which would be hard to pick up in the UK. Don't think this has happened yet though- it should be a strong signal here but there is a wall in the way so I can't receive it to check!

No not really (Premier League at least), unless you can find a feed. Check out LJ's forum just before a game.
