Cool Matrix Reloaded Cam - How to update

Hi Everybody,,,
I do have a matrix reloaded cam & seem to work properly with my Patched Astra 9500 receiver.
In the future, and upon need, I would like to make the matrix cam updates by myself. I do have a compaq Armada E500 Laptop, with 2 pcmcia slots.
I dowloaded the UCAS loader ver 1.2.1 from the matrixcam.com website. I already installed it on my laptop.
May I ask any professional here to
(1) tell me in simple steps 1,2,3 .. what to do next so that I do the right thing from the first time & update my cam properly whenever needed.
(2) Generally speaking what are the does & donts for a matrix cam update.
(3) what can spoil the matrix cam

Thank you in advance.

User909090,

Try the following link:

Donīt remove the CAM while programming (Duh) :-)
If you do screw things up just start all over again...

Best to get latest UCAS loader version 1.3 from http://www.westlandelectronics.co.uk...interface.html

I can't get my Windows XP laptop to recognise the MR CAM as a new DVB hardware.

Has anyone managed to get it to work with PCMCIA slot on XP?

Don't uninstall the drivers as XP will put the same drivers back again.
Here what you can try:

1. Right click and choose update driver, wizard starts,
2. Chose Install from specific location (advanced install, second choice)
3. Don't search I will chose the driver to install
4. Click have disk and point where you extract the MR pcmcia files XP folder. Choose the inf file and click ok
5. Now you will see standard card bus controller click on it and click next, XP will complain, click continue anyway and it will install the drivers.
6. Insert your MR card and XP will detect.

I just tried all these above and worked for Dell T.I 1410

Thanks rolfw for advise on XP configuration, I have followed the manual install process described, but it is the inf file that has no infornation specific to XP, hence fails to install. May be I have the wrong/old inf file, will look around abit more and thank you once again.

Any luck with that Armada E500?
I've got one too and not managing to get the pcmcia drivers to work...
Allready had to manually repair the XP to get it loading again...

I've tried both the driver packages i found (mr_by_laptop.zip and mr_by_pcmcia.zip) - no luck with those.

Do I need to get a pcmcia adapter for my desktop pc?
How do i know which one to get?

Astro76, I actually got an advice not to use my Armada for MR upgrade.
And it ended up by going to a professional to upgrade it for me using cas interface against a fee. That was with less headache for me simply.
I am currently having windows 2000 prof. as an operating system. what's yours?

I'm using XP Pro.
Unfortunately there's no "professionals" in my area so updating the MR is up to my skills.
I've been searching a Toshiba lappie for future use as i need it for other purposes too.
Do you know what Toshiba lappies are compatible with MR?

Not sure about the Tosh laptops, but the Compaq Presario series running win 98 is very CAM friendly, works well with the old Irdeto CAMs as well.

Can say any specific model of presario?
This would help a lot to find one as cheap as possible.

Hard to find those in Finland...
Seems that the one's available are too expensive.
I'm not ready to spend more than 100 euros (about 60 gbp).
Otherwise I'll get the CAS Interface 2. That's more like 80 euros (50 gbp).

Wouldn't hold your breath on that, looks more like it may have been a ploy to keep the interest going in the MR CAM, would love to be proved wrong though.

Unhappy problem with upgrading matrix cam

hi everybody

i have a magiccam which i flashed into matrixcam 1.081

recently, i found the new version of matrix (2.07) . i upgraded my matrixcam with funcards now i can see both of taquilla and calcio but all channels work just for 1 minute. afterwards, i tried to upgrade it into matrix 2.06 with funcards but it couldn't work so i decided to upgrade it by my laptop with loder_setup 1.3 but winxp couldn't detect my cam, so what can i do ?

@gasper - 2.07 is for the matrix revolutions and not the matrix reloaded

you'll need a cas2 interface to go back (can't be done with fun cards or laptop method)
