new kid on the block

Hi everyone.
Can anyone speak my language (simpleton)??

I am brand new to this area, but already can see the pull of it. I bought a suitcase dish setup jobby for my hols last month. We were going to a place that had no tv signal, mmmm, I think not!! Anyway after spending a few hours waving my dish to the skies, low and behold… I suddenly got a picky on my iccle telly. I nearly wet myself. Think it was more luck than anything though.
We had many late night skimming through the billions of channels available that’s obviously out there, great stuff.
Anyway to cut to the chase…I`m thinking of sticking a dish etc behind my caravan in the lakes. I know its poss cos I`ve seen others do it. The tv signal is very poor through a normal aerial

I have gone and bought a dish, and some cable but don’t know what else to get to stick under the telly!!! I really want to get channel 4 and 5, but I have spent £500000 on the phone talking to skys answer machine thingies, only to be told yet again I needed to phone another number! All I want is a viewing card heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp meeeee!!!!
I want to get all the normal channels, and some for my grandkids ie cartoons and stuff. Any help re this would be really appreciated. If you are able to assist please remember that I am brand spanking new to this stuff, and don’t understand techy talk.

Best regards one and all.

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

For around £99 you can get a Freesat card and Sky digibox on the internet, this will give you pretty much what you are looking for.
