My System: I fabricated my computer using mostly Intel Parts and using the Windows XP operating system. My satellite receiver is a Ariza Extreme
A Silly Question

I moved to Europe a year ago and it took me about 2 months to get oriented properly to watch most of the European satellite providers TV programs. I took up this hobby several years ago and have been watching "Free" TV from many places in the world. I also pay for cable TV. My silly question: I would not mind at all paying for satellite broadcasts I watch, especially some of the good chanels. I have no idea how to go about paying for these broadcasts. Can someone tell me how I would go about it and what additional equipment I need. I am currently using a PCI StarSat 2 receiver, with PROGDVB and VPLUG software. One of my favorite providers was Digital + on broadcasting from Astra located at 19.2 degrees. Was, that is, till they changed to Niagra 3. Is there anyway I can pay for their broadcasts? Regards, Dwight

The Sleepy Hollow pollracle has spoken!

Most people go to their websites or call them up to get a subscription, if you struggle with the language you could get someone you know who can speak it to do it...

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

In most cases, you will need to use an agent, or a friend who lives within the country in question, you will be wasting your time ringing them direct as in pretty much all cases, they will require that you are resident in their country.

Does your PCI card has a CI CAM slot and a Nagra 3 CAM so that you can insert the smartcard into the slot?
Without it, you will not be able to watch the channels, even with a legitimate subscription.

The smartcard can be purchased in Europe, but you will have to pay a lot of money to the shops who sell them.
Make a search with Google.
Have you tried the Dutch Canal Digitaal Satellite subscription instead of cable, since you are eligible to subscribe?

Thanks for the reply

I am getting my things in order for a 6 weeks of vacation away from Europe. When I get back I will use your reply to research what I need to buy to advance to the next level (or perhaps a step backward) to make my setup here legal and hopefully more reliable. Anyway, thanks for the reply and it does point me in a direction. Regards, Dwight1
