christmas??

Christmas is for the kids. its the parents that get it in the neck when they have to get the present that every one wants ie nintendo WII or what ever its called) Every year its the hotest toy that there is a sudden surge of buyers and not enough of them in the stores . Rememeber the cabbage patch dolls.. The PS3 fiasco... The only really good thing about christmas is that after christmas its the sales. I am shure there be plenty of satellite recievers bargains. Look at ALDI/LIDL and see what they have to offer.. regarding this.. This year i will be buying or signing up for a satellite deal . then going for the freesat later in the year.. anyway wish everyone in the forum merry christmas and try not to spend too much !

More Humbug

Do not celebrate it, do not like it, too commercialised but good to have a couple of extra days off work and visit family and friends.

I agree, I always head off to France to see my sister, have a great family time and get through a lot of food and drink. It does tend to be the time of year when you make a point of seeing friends and family.

The Sleepy Hollow pollracle has spoken!

I too think it's too commercialised these days, and the TV makes kids demand the most expensive thing going that they'll only play with for a few days then break it...

But afterwards it's better as everything is cheaper all of a sudden...

My System: Sky+ Pace v3, and before that analouge 80cm dish with Prima by Pace box pointed at 19.2e (not very imaginative then!)

I think as you get older, you appreciate the company and special food more than the presents. Having said that, I've enjoyed buying presents for others more this year, now that I've got a bit more money to spend.

My System: Various digiboxes, broken Nokia 9800S, numerous analogue boxes. My lovely little lappy, HP Omnibook 6100

Love it myself. In fact I like it MUCH more than New Year which I always think is full of too much false bonhommie.

Christmas is for kids, New year is for adults, well thats the way ive always thought of it.

Christmas week i go out of my way to make sure all the kids are smiling and happy.

I have great memories of christmas when i was a kid, and i try to make my kids enjoy it the same way... how i used to be excited as a kid, i now feel through my kids.

When they scream with delight when they open a present.... i feel good too. for 2 reasons
1, I remember how it felf when i was in their shoes
2, The little effort i put in made my kids so happy, seeing there little faces light up made it all worth while.

Christmas is the only time of year people go out of there way to be nice and try to make people happy... how can you not enjoy that
new year its party time and we all get drunk

I have Christmas to thank for.........
Once upon a time, I was just a young lad and on Chritmas Eve I decided with some friends that it was time to be real men so we bought some beer bottles, Gin, Whisky and something else.
We started drinking from all the "kit" and around midnight we all started to throw up and hold our stomachs in real pain, not to mention the headache, and hangover and all the other after effects next morning.
So we all learnt our lesson:
Never mix beer with the other deadly stuff.
