Gas Versus Electricity Cost for Cooking

I have always used gas for cooking, but last year I started to realize that the price of gas keeps going up every month and so I decided to try cooking using electricity instead.
To test, I cooked the same meal using gas and electricity, and monitering the meter readings before and after the cooking session.
With gas this is quite straight forward, but with electricity I had to turn off all other appliances and light bulbs so that they would not add to the meter reading.
The results were quite astonishing. It turns out that the use of electricity costs only 30% of the cost using gas.
This might be due to the fact that with electricity, the thermostat keeps shutting off the electricity to stay at the same cooking temperature, while the gas keeps burning all the time.
I don't know if this can be relevant to the UK users, as electricity is quite costly, but here it can really make a big difference.
This week I finally decided to disconnect from the gas company and can you believe it, they called me up and tried to persuade me not to disconnect and offered something in return. But I declined their offer.
Now my neighbours are also changing to electricity instead.

My System: Mostly gathering dust cos I'm a lazy git. Porty dish face blew off the mount, not too pleased...

The Sleepy Hollow pollracle has spoken!

Persoanlly I prefer to use gas, it's more controllable, doesn't take so long to heat up (gas is hot as soon as you ignite it) and you know if you forget to switch it off...

As for the cost, well, with the way things are going, even electricity is going to skyrocket to the point that only those with high income can afford it!!!

An alternative is a wood burning range, it can heat your home, heat your water and cook your meals, and the carbon output is minimal as you only burn what has recently grown (as long as you get your wood from a sustainable source)...
