Very interesting indeed, and with oil on it's way out, this looks like a viable energy source to me along side wind and water power...

the system can duplicate the water splitting reaction that occurs during photosynthesis

Hmmmm. Photosynthesis obtains oxygen (and sugar) from Carbon Dioxide and water

The article doesn't suggest where the sugar goes, (alcohol maybe with a bit of yeast ?)

Whilst it all looks good on paper, I cannot help feeling that a mechanical process using solar panels ( an energy intensive product to manufacture), cannot begin to compete with the efficiency of plants.

My System: IDD CI24 ECONO MM Penta 1.20 Galaxy II 1.2Mtr Polar MTG yes it has been on the arc for 21 years and is still driven by a modified wiper motor from a Ford Anglia. It's like me sometimes groans but always performs
