Sony HT-SS1100 and FortecStar Passion

Hello all,

I have a FortecStar Passion and a Sony HT-SS1100 theatre system

I have it setup as follows:

- TV and Sony HT-SS1100 connected via HDMI
- PS3 connected via HDMI and Optical into Sony HT-SS1100
- FortecStar connected via HDMI and coaxial into Sony HT-SS1100

Everything works as it should, however interestingly whenever I switch to a HD channel - BBC HD or Luxe TV HD for example, I get a perfect picture but no sound. I get sound with any SD channel.

I could in theory switch the cabling and use HDMI and Optical with the FortecStar Passion and just HDMI with my PS3, but then I'll lose surround sound with my PS3.

Is there any reason why I cannot get sound via coaxial when viewing HD channels? I though coaxial itself was digital?
