Setanta teetering on the edge of oblivion

Setanta are right on the edge of going bust, and all channels could be switched off anytime in the next few days.

Accountancy firm Deloitte is reported to be on standby to put Setanta into administration

Get ready to stop those direct debits lads n lasses & keep an eye on the forum - if they go bust we will get the news up as soon as we can....

Hmm just seen this on the DS forum

I tried to subscribe to setanta yesterday for the england match after being sent a offer for £3.33 for 3 months and was told by the rep on the phone "sorry but we are not taking any new subscriptions at the moment"

I know this sounds very naughty, and it probably is. But this is what I have been for a while now. I have been taken advantage of Setanta's minimum month contracts.

Pay Setanta, then the entitlements last a few months. Disable EMM on my linux box/cccam. Dont pay for 2 months...then when the entitlements are due to run out I have enabled the EMM and payed up for a months worth of pay........and so on

Nice but Dim

to be honest...i am one of setantas very few fans:-

Live UFC
Live Boxing
Live French Football, Live German, Live SPL, Live EPL, Live USPGA Golf, Live Internationals

Racing UK - Live racing every day
ESPN - Live US sports everyday
Celtc Tv, Rangers TV, Liverpool TV, Arsenal TV
Setanta News
Setanta Golf...

dont know why people complain for what it costs.

If people think its a good thing for Sky to have a whole monopoly...they need their head read

yes setanta has been good for things like boxing as sky wouldn't have shown many of the fights setanta has.

also where else would we get get french , dutch, german football as sky aren't interested in it.

i think the price and the connection charge has put many off subscribing as 28 pound is alot for the 1st month

I reckon tomorrow will be the day, since the deadline for the SPL payment is on Monday and also on a practical level it is the beginning of the wokring week.

Yup - I wouldnt be at all surprised if the administrators are called in tomorrow - and at that point the channels will almost certainly be pulled off the epg.

Setanta survive for the time being:

_http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/media/article6458205.ece

Its only a matter of time though - they are 700 000 subscribers short of what they need to survive and theres no football on over the summer, so folks cancel.

also what will happen to espn america as if setanta close down does that mean espn america does as well as they uplinked from same place ?

the feed for espn america europe is on 15west so they could easily uplink from a new site if needed ?

Your guess is as good as our wrt ESPN America. However Id expect them to survive as ESPN are one of the big boys.

What the arrangements would be once Setanta drop into administration can only be guessed at. They may have to go off air until they clear things with the administrators, or they could pick up the wreckage of the whole company for peanuts

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.
Stop press

The beleaguered pay TV sports broadcaster's subscription website reports that it is "down for routine maintenance". Messages left on its phone line tell prospective customers that the subscription option is "temporarily out of order" and that they should "try again later".

ESPN America survive throughout Europe within the standard subscription packages, ie,

Canal Sat France, Sky Italia, Arena, C+ Nordic ....So I wouldnt see any hardship ESPN America (UK) slipping into the standard sky package...

Like you said...it maywell see ESPN go off the air for a few days...although I honestly think this is a godsend for ESPN America (UK).

ESPN are the biggest sports network in the world.....and I just reckon they would love to buy out the whole setanta set up...and rebrand the whole lot.....I just hope that they do....competition to sky is healthy
