Worried about your privacy now 118800 will list mobile numbers?

Discuss your wife's objections to the fifth dish going up or your concern that there's far too little violence on the box these days. You can also introduce yourself here or just chat about anything. Remember, no keys or files allowed.

Well if you don't want your number listed, text the letter "E" to 118800 from the mobile you want de-listing and you will be made ex-directory, or phone their Freephone number 0800 138 6263.

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.

Pay and Go used purely for inter-marital purposes.

They'd have to guess the number ..................

But I do hate these "you are in until you tell us otherwise " systems - To me, it is as sinister and invidious as Inertia Selling.

I feel an Off Topic rant about Marketing coming on.

Well unfortunately, if you have ever provided your mobile as a contact number to a business, they may well have sold on the information and you may end up as a listing whether you like it or not.

Worth doing a search when they go live, costs you nothing.

BUT
, on the basis that my brain cell count is declining rapidly (ie I may have forgotten! ), I may take your advice and do belt-and-braces on this

Unlike a fixed-line enquiry service, 118800 will not give out numbers. Instead, a user will provide an operator with the name and home town of the party they wish to contact. If the name is in the 118800 database, the operator will call the number and ask permission to connect the caller.

The first time anyone is contacted by the service after it launches, they will be given the option to de-list.

SORN notification was one of the first, nothing more than a money making scheme dressed up as this governments answer to vehicle crime prevention.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"
