New 800m world champion Caster Semenya has been "humiliated" after being asked to take a gender test, says the head of South Africa's athletics body,what do you think??

That is not the kind of 'test' she has been asked to take, it is a full chromosome check to determine if there are any missing or damaged chromosomes which could make her suffer from XXmale syndrome

Men typically have one X chromosome and one Y chromosome in each diploid cell of their bodies. Women typically have two X chromosomes.
So-called XX males have two X chromosomes but with one of them containing genetic material from the Y chromosome, thus making them phenotypically male; thus they are genetically female but otherwise appear to be male.

So if she/he/it has the correct reproduction equipment (natural, not surgery) but has some sort of x chromo-deficiencies not of her making (look up Toppers post), is she then considered a man or a woman from the sport authorities??

If she has not modified anything herself, but is simply what she is then she has to keep her status. Obviously she has then a clear physiological adantage, but so does every top athlete. We could probably detect that many athletes have abnormal genetic mutations which makes them faster or stronger. should they be banned as well?

I agree entirely T_G, it is a very grey area, but I am not clear what the sporting bodies rules contain since this phenomena whilst known about for many years, the cause is not something that has been specifically identified down to such levels until relatively recent times.
