falconsat service problems, member reports

I've bought a cam, few weeks ago, from Falconsat (F***** International Satellite).

It breakdown after a couple of weeks, while it was in the
receiver,due to a semiconductor failure.

Being under warranty, I send it back to Falconsat for repair or replacement.

The F*****sat responsible R.Fahad wrote me declaring in non uncertain terms:
The Cam cannot be repaired, and as it was working when he send it out he will not replace it or refund me.

You need to advise him of the sale of goods act, the fact that it was working when you got it, does not clear him of the statutory 12 month guarantee he must give on any goods sold. His only out from this, is if you have updated the software version in the CAM, as this could be seen as tampering with the device, although as the CAMs are sold for this intention, you may be able to argue against this.

If you are certain its a hardware failure, then you have warranty status as long as the receiver wasn't responsible for causing damage.

Its going to be rather difficult to prove it though

How were you able to diagnose the semiconductor, what messages appear on screen when you insert the CAM? ?

I deducted semiconductor failure as the cam switched off during is routine operation and did not restart.
The message from the menu was cam not present, and it remain so when it was inserted on other receivers, laptop and cas 3 interface

I do not know of MRV2.12 as an official release.

The update to one of the later versions (series 2.XX) will render the CAM unable to be updated using a laptop.

Programming any of the 'hybrid' MRB/MRV versions will usually lock up the CAM when trying to access the N2 channels

Using a CAS3 interface incorrectly , may lead to the removal of identity part (Zylig ?) of the CAM and can possibly damage it.

Nochex have passed the complaint to their fraud section. They have emailed Falconsat and asked them to refund the money, if this doesnt happen after 48hours it will become a Police matter.

A quick update.
I now have my money refunded, this strangely coincided with a visit by Trading Standards.
Enfield Trading Standards are incredibly helpfull.

Angry Falcon International Satellite

Has anyone had any dealings with these suppliers in Hendon, London (also known as FalconSat)...

_http://www.falconsat.co.uk

I ordered £100 of equipment from them 2 weeks ago and my online order status still just says "processing".

When I try to call the number listed on their website (07731 80 30 30) I just keep getting an O2 voicemail box which is full so I can't even leave a message I've sent an email but no reply and there isn't a landline number anywhere

Hmmmmmm...not very confidence inspiring.

The annoying thing is that the money was taken immediately when the order was placed which I think is bad if some of the items were not in stock at the time of the order. I have to say that I'm not particularly impressed with the customer service because if the order has been delayed for a valid reason then it would have been nice to see an update as such on my online order status page or at least an email to let me know what is happening. It can't be anything to do with postal strikes because their website categorically states on the home page thet orders will not be affected by the strikes as they use City Link to deliver large items (I ordered a dish along with some other things).

Well luckily I paid by credit card so I've sent another email to Falcon International Satellite and told them if I've not heard anything back from them by the weekend that I'll be contacting my credit card company and getting them to deal with recovery of the money I've paid.

Well surprise surprise. Following the email I sent on Tuesday about getting the credit ard company to recover my money, the status of my online order is now showing as it having been despatched. I won't hold my breath though until the items actually arrive.

It would have been nice if there had been some communication from someone at Falcon to let me know why the order was taking so long to process or an apology for the delay. After this experience I don't think I'll be using Falcon International Satellites again and will find a different supplier to use if I need anything else.

My System: Integrated Digital TV IDTV
FalconSat - Not received my item

Hello all.

On the 23rd October I purchased a Setanta Sports CAM and card from _www.falconsat.co.uk
This was to enable my integrated digital TV to view Setanta Sports, especially with the Joe Calzaghe v. Mikkel Kessler boxing match coming up on 3rd November.

I even emailed them to ask whether it would arrive by the 3rd November, to which they replied "100% certain it will arrive".

The money was taken from my account immediately, and on the 25th October, my order status changed from "processing" to "dispatched", and as it was by first class post, I naturally expected it to arrive within 1-2 days tops.

However, it is now the 2nd November and I still haven't received my item. I know it is still "early days", and there has been a recent postal strike, but I just have a gut feeling that I have been conned.

This is due to the fact that they are no longer replying to my emails, their contact number doesn't work, and after doing a google search, I found some other topics about them, which actually brought me to this very site.

I may just be paranoid, and the item may arrive first thing tomorrow, perfect timing for the boxing match, but then again, I could have been shafted by this company, and won't see my £40 again.

Can anyone help out an anxious chap?

Many thanks.

I've seen that article earlier today yes, but at the time of purchasing, I just typed "setanta cam and card" into google, and then looked around the sites for most competitive prices.

I found FalconSat to offer the most reasonable price, and with the sheer amount of products they sell, I guess I just instantly trusted the site.

Lets be honest, not many sites of that size are going to be full-on scam artsits, or it would be a matter of days before the trading standards would be onto them. That's another reason why I didn't bother to do my homework on them.

As I said, hopefully I will receive the item tomorrow, and all can be forgotten, but If I am in the same situation a week today, is there anything I can do?

If you paid by credit card you may have some comeback. Depends on which card you have. Its often for items over £100 but with Halifax thy got me a refund of £45 for some DVD's that never arrived.
