My System: Sky UK. FTA analogue & digital satellite from 6 fixed dishes (5E/7E/9E/10E/13E/16E/ 19E/23E/28E) Pace MSS100, Echostar IP3000VA, Technomate TM-1000D, Dreambox 7020S

Either

ICC+ which is on is on Eurobird 9.

Or

ICC + which is on Hotbird 13E

The bandwidth on both is criminally low and the company behind it should be ashamed of putting out such diablical picture quality

Both transmissions are running at about 1200kbps and dissolve into "blocky vision" at the first signs of any fast movement.

I can provide screengrabs of both transmissions complete with bit rate overlay..

Hmmm, on Hotbird only there are 16 video and 6 radio broadcasts competing for their share of the 27.5k symbol rate.

I would move frequency if I wanted people to watch.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"

It suppose to be on Hotbird.

I would really appreciate if you could provide us with screen captures of our status.

Thanks,

First up - 13E.

The picture quality is just DREADFUL! Having the pic on full screen on my 19" monitor its horribly soft, and looks like a 10th generation copy of a vhs tape badly convertyed from NTSC to PAL

In addition theres some nasty flickering (tape artefacts maybe??)

To be perfectly honest I wouldnt watch this.

The second pic is one I grabbed earlier and shows the shocking blokkovision effects from insufficient bandwidth.

And secondly Eurobird 9A at 9E

To be perectly honest not only is it horrible to watch but also to listen to - the audio is extremely distorted on both transmissions - it waaaay too loud.......!

If the poor Iranian viewers have to put up with this I doubt you have many viewers....

My System: Satellite

who are you uplinking with (which teleport/service provider) and what bit rate have you contracted to? I would consider changing providers based on bad quality.

My System: Covering 30W-105.5E range, two motors, C and Ku band. Various receivers/cards/cams/etc.

Eutelsat is wery money hungry company...

for good bitrate single channel (5mbps avg.) on hotbird, they asked such amount money, that would be enough to hire complete TP on sirius

As GFS has confirmed, the bit-rate is something that is negotiated before contracts are drawn and money paid.

If the broadcast falls short of the stated minimum the contract has been breached.

Yes I know that. I mean, current eutelsat pricing for 13E is very high. For price they are asking for 1 channel, you can rent complete TP on another sat.

Analoguesat,
We are struggling with the sat company to see if we can increase our bandwidth and quality with less price difference. So they have done some changes but as we do not have access to the sat from here i need to ask you kindly check it for us
So if you can please give a screen grab of what you get and bandwidth one more time
Thanks

Hi there - I was on holiday in Rome last time you asked, so thanks to the other lads for helping out.

The bandwidth usage figures are actually lower on 13E!

ATM theres some dreadful kung fu type film on and the bit rate is averaging a little over 1100kbps However the audio levels do seem to have been sorted out. The screengrab is from about 5 minutes of monitoring.

The picture doesnt seem to be dissolving into blocks as badly as it did before, so maybe the encoders have been tweaked??
