My System: HD box
Satellite Cover - Digital Support

I used to have satellite cover with a company called SatCov who have now gone bust with loads of people complaining about them taking Direct Debit payments which they knew nothing about.

I have just received a call today from a company called Digital Support offering to take over the insurance of my equipment (box, cables, remote control and dish) for £5/month for up to 4 boxes.

Anybody heard of them or know anything about them?

This bunch have been doing the rounds for a few years.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.

Ignore it.

Sky have a formal association with one Company only: "Domestic & General".

If you really feel the need for Insurance, I recommend you ignore any other avenue as there are many scams out there.

Edit: Sorry - I meant ignore the cold call, not Channel Hopper. Quirk of timing of Posts!

FWIW ...I would always advise anyone considering specific insurance on electrical items ..
Such as extended guarantees etc ..
Put the money you would be giving these companies aside instead ....
Even in the first year /2 years ..when you would have statutary rights anyway ..
Let the money accrue ...and use it to pay for a one off repair at some future date ...if and when neccessary ..
If you get lucky and never need the repair ...then you're quids in and get to keep it ...or use it to buy new as equipment passes its 'sell by date'.
Companies that offer such extended guarantees and cover ...seem only to want to do so ..during the earlier part of the equipments life ..
..when its least likely to fail ..
..and often wash their hands of it as it get older ..and failure becomes inevitable..
Just my opinion of course ...but its the same thing I tell my customers ..
..and the same advice I give family and friends..
