Dish Size Survey

The BIG 28.2E Dish Size survey

Welcome to the BIG sky digital survey. Please click HERE and enter your location in to our map and enter the size of your dish your using to receive sky digital 28.2E. Also please add any notes e.g. "No Channel 4 at night" If you can't receive 28.2E please enter "No signal here". We hope to build a clear picture of what is needed to receive 28.2E in fringe reception areas around Europe and that this will benefit other members in the future when setting up a new system.

View the results here-
http://www.satellites.co.uk/php-bin/...BGooglemap.php

Enter your details here-
http://www.satellites.co.uk/php-bin/forum/VBGooglemap.php?do=yourlocation

Message to all who post a map pin, please add the relevant reception info, I know there isn't a lot of room, but a statement like "1.8m, all BBC+ITV" would suffice, it has to be 30 characters or less. Below is the sort of thing we are looking forEdit, now 50 characters

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

Nice feature Chris, have added my location, not particularly relevant to the fringe members, but keeps the ball rolling.

LOL, very roughly, it would have to be in a tent or caravan there, as it's right out on the downs.

Wow, first time I've used the satellite image closeup Iggy, looks good, can almost see the dish.

My System: Sky UK. FTA analogue & digital satellite from 5 fixed dishes (5E/7E/9E/13E/16E /19E/23E/28E) Pace MSS100, Echostar IP3000VA, Technomate TM-1000D, Dreambox 7020S

The last noble sat warrior to fly the olden flag of Analogue

Im on too - in the middle of nowhere up the northern half of the UK!

All 28E channels received loud and clear on an ex analogue 60cm round dish with new lnb. Even the weaker Eurobird S2 beams are adequate.

(Interestingly the map is wrong here - the road layout bears no resemblance whatsoever to whats actually on the ground!)

sky in Pakistan

All,

I have just moved to Pakistan from Ukraine. I had a 1.8M dish in Ukraine and picked sky up fine (no BBC though)

I have hotbird here with an 8ft dish.

According to local satellite mags I can pick up Sky with a 12ft dish ....... (only cost £200 or so !!!). I have to confess, its seems like a long shot to me !!

Anyone outhere tested or had similar experience of being so far out of the footpint ? is this really possible ?

Seems unlikely at best to me !!!

I'm testing a 1.2 m offset dish with a twin 0.4 Inverto LNB. The channel I want to receive (NASN channel) is on a beam that is acceptable with this size of dish. Of course I will test the rest of the channels and post the results.

Can you add that info to your map pin please Fartilfive? At least the dish size and All BBC/ITV.

My System: [ Relook 250S ]
Unhappy

Done my part and I'm not really happy about it. I used to be able to get Cnn, Sky News, QVC, TCM, Boomerang, ITN, BBC radios, S4C, ZeeTV and some useless dating channels. Right now I can't even find the faintest bit of reception. I could have the dish missaligned, but I move it around and nothing happened.
These satellites were allways a bit problematic, specially in winter, but now they seem to be gone.
