personally, i have to wonder what someone in power thinks when they read stories like this... someone like Tony Blair for instance.

i think this type of crime is becoming more and more common, i really get annoyed with stories like this, Holly and Jessica springs to mind too.

so if i predict correctly, then most people on this forum will respond as i naturally expect them too.... if this poll is a indication of what Britain thinks, then why doesnt the law get changed to reflect this?

I used to be a strong believer in capital punishment, but guess that I must have mellowed in my old age, as I am always concerned that there have been too many mistaken convictions and tampering with evidence in the past to ensure 100% certainty of guilt. I do think that life should really mean life though and not just for these crimes.

Is this a case of drugs or drink addling their brains? or is it a case of poor upbringing and a complete lack of morality. It is easy to over react in these circumstances however flogging followed by amputation of the offending parts, then leave them in a soundproof prison cell with a small pistol and one bullet until they either finish the job or starve to death...

Seriously though there have been a lot of mistakes in the past so I suppose it has to be life

there was a lass just before that up our way 6 year old snatched whilst in bath,,,they think they maybe connected,,and as for ya choices id prefer the let the mothers deal with them

People who engage in child sexual abuse have serious psycological problems and are mentally sick. As much as it might hurt us, it is not just to kill them. These problems arise when children are raised in an inadequate environment and, when they become older, they need to perform these acts either to get "revenge" for certain acts that their parents did against them or to get some kind of pleasure for having control of certain situations. These are very sick people who might never get well, so I vote for castration in an attempt to avoid further episodes. We cannot condemn someone with a severe illness to death, as it will make us even worse than them.

Castration, as nice as it sounds does not cure the problem. The issue with these people is control, castration or medication that surpresses their sex drive does not always work...jail or mental institution is the only solution

I worked in a prison a few years ago and was told by some of the lags the best way to deal with these people.
Instead of seggregating them from everyone else, lock them up in the general prison population. They will deal with the problem.
Whilst at work, (a total of about 10 days) I witnessed one perv "trip" down 4 flights of steel stairs. He got up twice but "tripped" again and ended up with a broken back. Another one "got in the way" of a con pouring 5 gallons of boiling porrige.
The god thing about these "accidents" ?
No one saw anything.

When capital punishment was ended it should have been replaced by a LIFE sentence and one of hard graft. Not TVs, gyms, courses etc. No contact with the outside world either. In other words a living death.

i agree.... after the incident that started this thread, the news item you mention had me leaping around in anger!!!!

i know a good punishment.... stick the sick Bas***** in a cell with ME for a few hours.
That way they would be sorted, justice served and i would be alot happier
Them Sick videos that came from Iraq last year, the ones with poor Ken Bigley etc.... thats what should be done to these sickos!!

well, I voted castration, but each one of the options has faults: a eunuch can still molest with hands or..

hang them: they don't suffer nearly enough..

life inprisonment: we tax payers pay for keeping scum alive..

leave things alone: where do I begin...

after thinking, i think general population prison would be the best, with full knowledge made of the sins. then if they do end up in prison hospital, pain relieving drugs should obviously be denied.
