Thumbs down Actors - Is there space for them in a civilised society?

I've just watched a Mike Douglas film on Beeb1 (thanks to my comag SL65 + AMOS 4w) : "Don't Say a Word".

I'm sue you know the type of thing... well-off middle class fam (goodies), ugly, English-accented baddies. Baddies kidnap cute 10 yr-old daughter, Mike does a lot of acting, against the odds etc etc kills baddies (although in a super rare twist, the head-badguy was not dispatched, only to come back from the dead in a last desperate attack, to be decisively offed, to audience apreciation), cute all-American family live happily ever after.

Moan number 1 - does anybody else agree that they mix the background music too loud, inevitably leading to you not hearing the actors emoting in their finer "gentler moments"

Moan number 2 - Is it just me, or does anybody else think that actors are a complete waste of space?!? I mean if I were England now, I'd be paying over 100 quid just to have a TV in the house!!!!!

1) This is probably just due to your age
2) This is just a tax on fun. If you didn't have a TV tax, you would have a tax on condoms. Or black cherry yoghurt. Or both.

Great, thanks, so what your saying is (1) I'm past it, and (2) you have to pay through the nose for everything?

Remind me to PM you if I should ever feel depressed and need cheering up...
