UMD's ??

Not being a gamer when I saw these odd things I had to google 'UMD' when I got home

For those, like me that haven't a clue, a UMD disc is to a DVD, what a minidisc is to a CD. Tiny disc and loads of compression. Always a SONY thing.

Seems like SONY's year-long experiment in another format isn't cutting the mustard with Hollywood or retailers. Walmart have banished them from their shelves. Universal and Paramount have announced that they shall cease production. What went wrong? Well, first its a SONY. Second, its not that good, thirdly, no-ones buying content, fourthly, Apple.

Q: anyone here got any UMD's or were they put up on Ebay looong time ago?

Mark.

its sony game disc format for the psp , stands for universal media disc as it can be used for movies aswell but it aint doing too well at the moment as umd movie sales are down, not surprised really as i've watched a movie on the psp and i wouldn't bother to buy them as the screen is abit small. only time i'd use them is when on the train or something

Sorry Wod, I should have pointed out that the intended use for UMD is/was for games. Not being a gamer 'n all - it totally escaped me
