Certainly looks interesting. I'd like to see the menu structure though, to make sure that it isn't too difficult to operate (for my wife that is).

The specifications say "- Twin tuner for simultaneous recording or recording / watching of two programmes" so it looks like it can record two programmes at once - a trick that some other twin tuner receivers can't do.

I will let you know what kit arrives with the store.

Sorry chucklebezza, had to edit your post for live and non-satellite related product links, we don't allow unapproved advertising and as cheap as their products may be, Lidl don't pay to advertise on this site.

There is also a thread already in existence for latest Lidl satellite deals, will move this to there.

Sounds like the same kit as last year, but a little cheaper I think...

I got the complete 57cm kit just for the twin-output LNB, but I decided to keep the SL65 too and sell the rest on Ebay (including a single LNB I got at the same time)...

As for the LED signal finder, utter cr*p!!!

I have never liked the sl65 I patched it once it took 4 hours !
the menus are good but there are easier boxes to live with and it seems to have no support.
the rest of the £57 lot was good tho the dish and audio meter and twin lnb
(mine was 2 years ago)

I think mine's currently an unpatchable box, but I'm sure someone's working on it, there's a couple of versions so the newer one, which I have, might be different to yours...

Yes it is, mine can be patched but all I have ever got is multi & tp$ and with 4 hours of labour it's just not worth the hassel, I was told you could get D+ with a thing called a j-tag but when I purchased a j-tag everyone went quiet on the "how to " so I have never tried...anyone know?

The only thing I know how to JTAG is another type of box, but that's naughty, it's just basically another serial interface which needs only the software on the computer to flash the chips, but how to do it on the SL-65, I really don't know...

Whenever you are trying to find a sat it's hard enough to be fiddling with nuts and bolts and spanners fine tuning sats it's much easier to use an audio meter in an earpiece powered by your own system via the coax which produces a deep tone when not on a sat and a high tone when on a sat the higher the tone the more accurate your alighnment is.
Using this method you don't need to be looking at a silly meter and you just trust your hearing so you only have 100 tasks to do at once not 101.....

Yeah mrminibus, I already have an audio metre which I have used on many occasions. I find it quite useful although a bit hit and miss. I was hoping that this led meter would be more precise. Thanks for your help.
