| Horses for courses Waverider The car is only as good as the traffic in front of me I would have to say the VF1000R pictured elsewhere in the forum is the prettiest of the vehicles I own, and could be classed as mean, but its not the sharpest handling thing in the garage. The Ducati 900SL undergoing an engine rebuild at present is the quickest from A to B For day to day transport Ive picked a winner with the XBR500 from Ebay

| I have to say…I still have a soft spot for the first car I ever bought…A Triumph Toledo. It was stolen on me and never saw it again. Also as my father-in –law worked in Jaguar( Coventry ) all his life, the Wife is always on at me to get one. Might do it one day.

Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum. | about 12 years ago, I acquired a Datsun 280ZX and spent £2,500 on it for bodywork, respray and mechanical work. Unfortunately, the guy that I bought it from had used a private plate on it, but when all of the records were transferred from local offices to Swansea, he was not using the vehicle and didn't reply to their letters. The upshot was that the registration lapsed, he couldn't find his documentation and I could find no record of the car's import, so had to get type approval. The car sat in storage for a few months, but unfortunately, when I went to pick it up with a trailer, the thing had been nicked and that's where the dream ended .

| Wonder what my old Toledo would be worth now if I still had it. It was a 1971 model and was 5 years old when I got it, after a while I took out the 1.3 engine and put in a 1.5 from a Dolomite / Sprint ……Happy Days.

| P.S Honda's make sweet bike's the VF1000R is one of me fav's.... Engine a dream, fairing and electrics typically Hondas and Japanese finest. Brakes, handling and corrosion of the combstibles is its downfall If only theyd put this engine in the standard VF1000 (I have two of them as well) it would have been the one to beat in 1984. As it was the GPz900 waltzed it on cost and handling.

My current car here in Tasmania (Australia) is an AU series Ford Falcon XR6 sedan - 4.0 litre straight 6, various performance mods, approx 220kw, top speed around 235kph. This is an Australian designed and built Ford which has been modified by Tickford Vehicle Engineering in Melbourne (since renamed Ford Performance Vehicles). Cheers

| Australian house cars (and bikes) have been ignored by almost all the press up here, but they do have a cult following from those that keep in touch via the film industry. Some good and some best left in the can I shall be watching 'Stone' tonight on VHS, just to see what all the fuss is about

My System: I bet on red. If I lose, I double the bet on red again. I continue with this until I lost everything. ![]() Muhuhuhahahahahaaaaarrrgggh | My favourite ride currently is an 1100 S. It has chiptuning, Laser exhaust, wide carbon inlet ducts, lots of other carbon parts, k&n filters, superbike handle bar conversion, low seat and some other stuff. It has a Safari paintjob now. Does not belong to me, but sits there ready for me whenever I need it. This is the perk of working for a bike specialist

My System: I bet on red. If I lose, I double the bet on red again. I continue with this until I lost everything. ![]() Muhuhuhahahahahaaaaarrrgggh | But I think my favourite car was this: 1974 (?) Plymouth Fury 3. Electric windows, chairs, central locking, electronic ignition, disc brakes, adjustable steering, V8 engine (I think was 7.2 L) automatic trans... I just loved it. Funy thing is despite the size there was not that much room sitting in the rear, but then who cares.... At the same time (around 1989) I also owned a 1960 Vespa 400 Car. That was a funky car with a 2 stroke engine. Sadly I don't have a picture with both of them at the same time, actually I am not sure where I got the pictures from that time. But I found these on the internet . So the bloke in the car is not me...TG

I'll try to list the mods: Tickford (post Ford production-line) - camshaft, bigger inlet & exhaust valves with heavier springs, modified computer mapping profile, lowered approx 20mm with stiffer shocks, adaptive shift auto transmission. My mods - lowered further 25mm with progressive springs, extractors, 2.75" exhaust with high flow catalytic converter, high flow air filter, custom Ford Racing Div'n air intake ducting, bigger cold air intake, Unichip, cleaned up the dual length intake runners and matched to head. Dyno tuned. Original 0-400 metres around 15.5 sec. Have only run some unofficial times since mods and these seem to be around the 14.7 ~ 14.8 mark. Never tried to do any 0 - 100 kph times. Guess there's plenty more to do - just need the necessary $'s .... it's a bit of a battle between the car and more satellite gear
