World's Worst Band Of All Time

Following on from The Greatest and the Best Rock Group in the World - here is the 'B' Side.

An open invitation to submit any Band you consider to be WORLD'S WORST BAND OF ALL TIME.

WHEN 100 BANDS HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED - THEY WILL ALL GO INTO AN OPEN POLL.

---------------------------------------
# Post Your Chosen Worst Band of All Time to this thread.

# INCLUDE A REASON WHY: Why Not!

# ONE BAND - ONE POST - NO LISTS!
---------------------------------------
.

----------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------
YOUR ENTRIES SO FAR
----------------------------------------------------

1. Europe
Reason: enough.

2. Linkin Park
Make you feel suicidal.

3. Whitesnake
Saw them once at Wembley Arena (I was invited by somebody that had a spare ticket - now I know why.) Contrived pap.

4. Marilyn Manson
Just look at a picture of, erm, "it", 'nuff said!!!.

5. The Smiths
A pile of pretentious depressing Pooh.

6. Rod Stewart and the Faces*
Ruined when the lead singer left (Stevie Marriot) and a second rate pub singer brought in.

7. Slipknot
More intent on violence and shock tactics than making good music.

8. Toto Coelo (don't ask - makes up the numbers)*.
Sang about eating cannibals. Pretty awful stuff.

9. The Darkness
A load of crap.

10. Take That
Their songs have stood the test of time, but they are cheese: pure farmhouse cheddar.

11. Lordi
So everyone knows Bronks watches Eurovision.

* Bands may be disputed. Fighting begins when a 100 submissions are in.

Lead Zeppelin!

Their gimmick was that all of their concerts were in a Zeppelin filled with Lead. The act never got off the ground!

Mind, most people have never heard of them? uummm.

Pretentious, maybe. Rock Band? Noooh.

Likewise PAUL

Eminem might have enough money to buy his own trailer park - but he, too, is NOT A ROCK BAND.

Keywords: ROCK + BAND ;-))

Since you are the boss and mod respectively - you can both have another go.

But try and think, er, rock & band. You could always use the Greatest Poll as reference, LOL.

Never heard of Lead Zeppelin. There was a band called Led Zeppelin.

I nominate Oasis.

Soooooo I must concur with you and choose again. Which is a bit difficult as I can't think of one at the moment. I'll come back when I've had a thought.

Oh, would you accept Rod Stewart and the Faces? - a good band (the Small Faces) ruined when the lead singer left (Stevie Marriot) and a second rate pub singer brought in?

I am trying not to be pedantic; but, a single artist of any genre doesn't constitute a band. The bag of worms is how you define 'rock' There are a gazillion nasty and traditional rock bands out there and easily enough to fill the 100 needed for this poll - but is Oasis a rock band (just like you question Floyd on the other poll)?

At this point I will simply ask this. At this early stage, would it be better to change the poll to simply 'worst band' and avoid any disputes over a bands 'rock'ness? Views please.

Yes agreed, it is quite difficult to say what constitutes a rock band. I was probably unfair on the Smiths anyway, as just because I hated their music, doesn't make them a bad band, they could obviously play their instruments well, even if their singer was/is a pretentious humourless twit.

I would say that if you opened it up to all bands, then the Dave Clark Five would have been in the running, even though they had a couple of hits at the time.

i also saw whitesnake at donnington park, i thought they was awsome!!

i think most of the new so called rock bands suck... ie Linkin park, limp biskit, nickleback etc etc.

but the one i will have to go for as my worst will be...

Slipknot
more intent on violence and shock tactics than making good music

OK, since this is supposed to be a fun exercise -

Would a mod or rolf kindly modify the title to 'WORLD'S WORST BAND OF ALL TIME' and i'll totter off and change my preamble.

Thanks.

[edit] LOL, well I have already hit a hurdle. Remember I can't edit a post after 24hours, hehe.

Guess, I will have to do it INLINE. Uuumm, what a mess.

Is there another solution?

What constitutes a 'band', and would a one man band be a valid entry into the poll ?

Use your imagination CH.

Is a total unknown one-man-band from Bromley High Street going to cut any mustard on a worldwide 100 worst poll?

Me thinks not. An entity that we all know would help

I would love to add Barry Manilow - but he's just a tall guy (and not in a band).

Come on guys - bands (more than one person) - who is the worst???

Just to stray on topic, I would like to suggest Toto Coelo. An all-girl outfit who dressed in black bin liners and sang about eating cannibals. Pretty awful stuff.
