For some odd reason German Supermarkets are always having these multi sat receiver deals, but, what caught my eye was this pretty cool (as an idea, not in looks) hot-swap HHD DVB-T Receiver/PVR from SkyMaster. . | ||

That PVR though, are there 2 versions there? One for DVB-S (DXR-8000) and on for DVB-T (DTR-4000)? As I said, German's all jibberish to me so I haven't a clue what it says...  The box in the pic seems to have the Sat-receiver's model on it... | |||

Why did I post the pic? You know the score. Manufacturer's make a couple of versions of their HDD recorders, say like 160GB & 250GB (price diff. extreme) - and promptly firmware limit them so you can't do a DIY upgrade yourself. For 2CV sorry about the text. I thought you all might just be interested in the pics and prices. You are right, I was in a rush, the one shown is the SAT receiver  So, Sorry, again.Digital Satellite Receiver DXR 8000. Storage space for 4000 channels DiSEqC 1.0 & 1.2 Digital DVB-T Receiver DTR 4000 Storage space for 1000 channels Options for both the DXR 8000 & DTR 4000 Video recorder option by means of a standard PC hard drive up to 240GB (doesn't say what speed - I'd go for a slow one). Auto Recognition and formatting of HDD. S-VHS o/p 2x SCART o/p Sold without HDD. As for the sat stuff: Quad LNB with integrated multi switch (DiSEqC 1.0), Storage for 2000 programmes, OSD/MENU (doesn't say what languages), EPG, Software upgrade via satellite, 2 SCART outs, and a remote control for each unit.  The SKYMaster looks like a Trabbant - but gets my juices going nevertheless. . | |||

Don't you like the idea of hot-swapping though (actually, I am sure they recommend that you turn the device off first - but you get the idea). I have a Samsung HDD PVR (80GB) - wanted to upgrade the drive but the firmware won't let me . | ||
