This is why I am seeking your assistance to enable me front you as my appointed foreign partner who will assist me in claiming this box from this company.
The security company does not know that this deposited box contains money
because my late father registered and tagged it as family valuables and art works for security reasons. Therefore, you are to keep the top secret of this transaction until this truck box is finally released and delivered to you. I am therefore seeking your kind assistance in the following ways:

Moreover,Dear,I am willing to offer you 25 % of the total sum as compensation for your effort/input after the successful release and delivery of this box to your nominated address and 5% for any expenses that might be incurred during the process of this transaction making it 25% of the total Furthermore,I want you to indicate your options towards assisting me as I believe that this transaction would be concluded within fourteen (14) days you signify interest to assist me. I assure you that this buisness is 100% risk free as I will forward all the necessary and legal documents backing up this transaction and making it legitimate to you as soon as I hear from you.

My System: 90cm Dish. Dual Lemon LNB for 13E/19E. Twin Output Lemon LNB for 28.8E. Samsung 9500 with 'alternative' firmware. Couple of DigiBoxes. Amateur Radio station. Going Bald with a patient wife!

You're lucky if this is all you get - I get this one, numerous 'penile' enhancement offers, stock trading tips, Calias and Viagra prices, Replica watches, Western Union scams asking me to sell things (thinking I'm a company) then to do the overpay scam, empty emails, paypal and Ebay phishing attempts with a supposed unauthorised account activity taking place, fake emails from banks again asking me to update my details - had one from pretty much every high street bank, offshore banks and Wells Fargo bank in the USA, OEM Software offers, Offers to buy watches, Loan and mortgage offers and weight loss solutions just to name a few that arrive EACH and EVERY day.

I only use yahoo mail as they actively filter email quite well and I can filter pretty much everything away from my inbox but quite a lot still gets through the net.

Spam arrives everywhere - do a test - make yourself a yahoo, hotmail and other free accounts and don't touch them for a few weeks - you'll be surprised what begins to land in them! I even got my first few spam messages at work last week and the county council's anti-spam filters are unreal so did well to get through.

I have replied to some offers and 'played' with the sender - there is a website all about others that have 'strung them along' but it's not advised as you are dealing with criminals at the other end.

You will be greatly rewarded.

Sincerely,

Dr. Watson.

It's always doctors and daughters but now they ask desperately for bank accounts.

Do they think people are complete idiots or what?

I am starting to beleive they are the idiots.

I would like to think that it's possible to engage them in a clever counter-scam, but I doubt that they have two pennies to rub together.

Haaa haa - these are the websites I've read - there is a superb one on 419eater where the scammer is so convinced he is onto a winner, he sends photos of whatever is requested......and eventually sends the other side some money which is eventually cashed and given to charity.

Some people will do anything for money!

My System: Various digiboxes, broken Nokia 9800S, numerous analogue boxes. My lovely little lappy, HP Omnibook 6100

What is this thing called spam?

I can honestly say that I haven't had a sigle piece of spam in the last 2 or 3 years. I'm with Virgin.Net and they must have some pretty powerful filters to stop all this muck getting through to me.

It's not a new email adress either, I've had my main one with them for the last 7 years or so. A good reason not to move if it causes people so much trouble methinks

Translated it means:

Dear Mug,

I am writing to you to rob you of your money. But rather than sending you a rather detailed letter making out I am a beautiful 19 year old girl with no financial awareness, I thought I'd cut to the chase. No doubt you have heard all that before.

Instead, please give me your credit card number and all your bank details, I wish to fleece you.

Many thanks.

David Smithe.

Straight and to the point.

I think when you've been on the web as long as some of us (I was on before 'www' became commonplace - ran my own BBS from mid 1980s!) - you will get spam. Also it's a drawback of using usenet like I used to do and still do plus having a website.

News of 419 scams has just reached North Tyneside?

These scams have come to be associated by the western media with Nigeria due to the massive proliferation of such confidence tricks from that country since the early 1990s, as well as the reputation of the country for corruption.
