Matt Allright hosts the first of a new two-part consumer programme that aims to track down the crooks perpetrating scams on UK residents, and give them a taste of the own medicine.

Scambusters, on Wednesday, January 21, is produced by the Watchdog team.

In next week's programme. Allright identifies those who are taking hundreds of millions of pounds every year from the public through confidence tricks.

Along the way, he discovers just how the con tricks work and, with the help of psychologist Dr David Weeks, learns why the psychology behind the scams is so effective.

The programmes feature con artists from around the world.
