Dispute with leading DVD rental company

I think we all know which one, but it doesn't begin with a "b"; I mean the other one, that starts with an "l".

To cut a long story short, over a year ago, I returned two DVDs which were lost in the post. This company wanted me to pay for the lost DVDs plus admin charges of £22. I refused, so they wanted to take me to court.

I said I had returned the DVDs in the disc packets they provided. And anyway, to make sure they get their DVDs back they should have their own courier service.

Luckily the Royal Mail found the DVDs and everything was settled, but not before I had spent money on phone calls and letters, not to mention my time - all of which could not be recovered.

Everything was forgotten. But three weeks before Xmas 2006, I got a letter saying the company wanted to give me four months free rental. Against my better judgement I agreed, and guess what's happened.

They emailed me this morning to tell me they have not got back the DVDs I returned.

I won't bite this time. TOUGH for them.

this happened to me also... thats why i stopped using them. it was hapening too often for my liking

and when i cancelled my membership, i was told it would cease when the DVDs i have... were returned.... i did and guess what happened???

amazingly they got lost, and i was told that my subscription would continue £19.99 a month at the time.... untill the discs were either paid for, or turned up?

to cut a long (very long) story short, i refused to pay and cancelled my direct debit
the post office were actually very helpful and sorted it out.... i didnt pay anything like you.
