No prizes, but can anyone point to the location and purpose of this dish? Not stone-age, unless they could orbit a stone satellite Llew | ||

My System: Mostly gathering dust cos I'm a lazy git. Porty dish face blew off the mount, not too pleased... The Sleepy Hollow pollracle has spoken! | I think these were featured on the BBC's Coast series (first series of course with the map man in them), they were originally to be used during WW2 to listen for incoming aircraft before they could be heard without listening aparatus, the only thing was is that they were replaced with Radar before they were used...

My System: Mostly gathering dust cos I'm a lazy git. Porty dish face blew off the mount, not too pleased... The Sleepy Hollow pollracle has spoken! | It was a pretty good episode, they actually tried out the 200 foot mirror with some advanced audio equipment (ok, it was a microphone hooked up to a laptop with some special software for audio analysis!!!) and it worked perfectly with an old aeroplane... ![]() I wouldn't be surprised that the dish shaped ones could receive satellite signals with an appropriately placed LNB...
