Broadband

Today i passed the Sky Broadband course :| seems im now qualified to fit sky broadband.. should be fun.. already fitted 2.. first one wasnt commisioned at the exchanged so i left it.. second one worked a treat.. they had 16mb .. still think sky need to streamline their customer service as the monkeys on the tech number wind customers up somat rotten.. they dont have a clue about broadband.. i say get rid and get call centres in UK..

But anyway if i get a few broadband installs a day saves me getting my ladders off

So are they using the sky-branded Netgear Wireless routers then?
(I only ask cos the pic of one I saw looked exactly like one I tested at work and it had a circular flashing light ontop ala sky+)

not really no.. infact there is buttons which have been renamed like Connection Test. been renamed to Sky Test. things like that.. basikly they have took over netgear..

Its not netgear its Sky.. on the Sky Dongle.. it has netgear plastered all over it.. but on the training its "skys own dongle"

LOL..

Just a bit of advice to people wanting sky broadband.. if your exchange isnt easynet fiber then i wouldnt expect fast speeds.. Majority of exchanges are Bt connect.. is easynet fiberoptics are in your exchange then i would get it.. 16MB for £10 is worth it

How does one go about finding out about their local exchange's connection?

Also, what's in it for ex-sky customers?

What does this say for xDSL LLU in your exchange?

Can you explain what you mean by this? It's my understanding that you cannot easily alter the username and password, and therefore it's no use at all...

I also believe that there is indeed a way to reflash them to the original firmware, but it's slightly risky (to the router's health).

I'll certainly be using the dodgy reflashing trick to put mine back to standard just as soon as my years contract is up

I'd hate to have to dump a perfectly good wireless router.
