Alibaba's cave of classic cars/ La cueva de clasicos de alibábá

Apparently someone bought an old farm in Portugal, which included a warehouse which had been locked up for 15 years. When they opened it up, this is what they found inside...

http://forocoches.com/foro/showthread.php?t=548055

Se ha encontrado en Portugal un almacen con 180 coches en el interior, este permanecio 15 ańos con las puertas soldadas para que nadie pudiera entrar en el increible.

Great you buy a shed and its full of scrap!

You could soon clear all that clutter in the shed with a gas axe and some skips

Apart from the Beetle - thats mine

suicide doors on the Beetle. Did you notice the wipers and pillar indicators?

http://www.interclassico.com/genpics/afa25.jpg

I'm not 100% sure it is a Beetle though - the windscreen shape looks wrong and for that age I thought it would be splitscreen?

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

No it isn't a beetle, anything of that age would have had a split screen, looks more like a Fiat. Have brightened up the photo.

There is a beetle in the other photos though, have downloaded and zipped them 4MB, so that they can be easily viewed at leisure.

Wow, what a stroke of luck, don't think I'd want to sell them all at once, would rather restore them one by one and live on the profit, perhaps just sell ing a few for working capital.

Beetles only ever had a split rear screen. The windscreen shape is wrong - def not a Beetle.

Yes, of course you are right, don't know why I had it in my mind about the split front screen, possibly thinking of the camper van.

Well, it just goes to show how well some people look at pictures...

So how much would that collection, as-is, be worth? Up in the Millions range?

Yes, a fortune, some very interesting hardware in there, nothing particularly exotic, but all worth money, particularly bearing in mind the apparent good condition of them.

Looking at the interior pics of a few of then, they're like new, but, who in their right mind would just stick them in a barn and lock them up, WITHOUT putting Tarp sheets over the cars!?!?!?!
