Well of course it depends on whether it's an Edison Screw type or Bayonet type.

Both types come in different sizes but this has no effect on the method. With both types make sure that the bulb, if it's been recently switched on, has been allowed to cool. Use a cloth over the glass envelope to contain the glass if it breaks.

Bayonet

Push the bulb into the holder slightly, twist anti-clockwise by about 10 degrees and then remove.

Edison Screw

Rotate the bulb anti-clockwise until it has fully unscrewed from its holder.

With both types assembly is the reversal of disassembly.

This covers all eventualities I think.
