Storing numbers on SIM cards

Hello All,

My very first post, glad that I found this place.

is there a way to store some numbers, 8000 numbers, on the SIM card of my cell phone so that any call coming from any of these numbers will be disregarded and not accepted to come in like e-mail spam filters?

What I have is a list of 4000+ numbers of telemarketers and I was hoping that there is a better and easier way to store these numbers on my cell phone, iPaq 6500 series, vs. having them in my contacts list, which will mean 2 weeks of time to enter all these numbers, and hoping that no mistake is made.

Would storing them on the SIM card make sense in terms of flagging them as "Undesirable" numbers?

Thanks for any info. or ideas.

Hello

Welcome to the forum Seemum

As it is nearly 2.00am in the morning here in the UK you may not get a quick reply to your question as most members are asleep now, I would have thought your question would be answered with a more expert approach on our sister forum:

As far as I know, a modern SIM card can only store at most 250 numbers as contacts, blocking numbers though has to be done by the network operator but isn't always guaranteed to work, especially if you have 4000+ numbers!!!

Ah but he is using an Ipaq which uses SD cards to store data on and I think that is what he is actually meaning as most everyone knows that a sim cannot hold much data

Ah...

I guess it might be a good idea to visit the other site then cos I wouldn't really know if it's possible or not. I guess if there's a program for WindowsPPC that checks the incoming number then either diverts it to a message or lets the call through, then it should be possible, but with 4000+ numbers it may cause problems when tallying numbers with the list, phones and pocketPCs aren't very powerful...

Thanks 2cvbloke

I now know more about SIM cards than ever before. I guess it was a nice idea to be able to store these numbers and block them. I am sure than not all 4000 numbers should be stored, only the ones that call. But the potential for all these numbers is real.

Thanks

I am enjoying this forum a lot.
