Newbie- Multiswitch help required please.

Hi all.
First post so be gentle.
I am currently building a new house and am wanting to fit a multiswitch to allow satellite recievers in every room for sky and/ or freesat.
Also I want to combine the UHF and FM/ DAB into these rooms as well.
I am in two minds though to fit one quattro lnb or two.
What could I pick up on the second if it is in a fixed position, I would only be interested in football if this is possible.
I am also unsure as to the number of cables to take in to a room from the multiswitch, for example-
If I want skyHD in my living room plus freeview and radio would I still need two cables for the sky twin tuners, plus one for the freeview and one for the radio or do I piggyback the freeview and radio onto one of the cables and a triplexed wallplate?
Any diagrams available?

Sounds like your well up on multiplexing/ multiswitches/ mediaplates etc.. There is a very different system though.. the one cable option if it gets taken up in the future you wont need all that stuff, just a simpler system to add and split dtt & dab and far more basic rf distribution amp for sat.

Welcome to satellites,

For one quattro, your need a 5 x (how ever many outlets you require) ie. 5 x 8 multiswitch.

For two satellite feeds, a 9 wire switch will be required.

Multiswitchs have satellite inputs, UHF, FM & Dab inputs. These get diplexed onto the one cable feed and a triplex outlet plate for example will be required the other end to seperate the signals.

A failry popular set up would be 28e & 19e OR 13e

Hi.I would sugest 5x how many tuners you will feed multiswitch.so you have sky 28e and dvb,t and dab,radio on one cable.And one separate quad,okto(how many rooms?) lnb on another cable for any dvb-s boxes in house.Skybox dont have diseq switch option for 9x or 17x multiswitches.If freeview you mean dvb-t box then one cable,if skyplus and dvb-t then two cables,if skyplus ,dvb-t and dvb-s box then three cables(two from multiswitch on diplexer and one straight from other dish).for free football on other satellites not much there try 42e for uefa games or 26e for jazzera sports 1,2 for european leagues(i dont know if 7w nilesat strong for uk).

For twin satellite tuners (eg Sky+) take two feeds from the output of the multiswitch to each room. Just make sure you get a multiswitch with enough outputs for all the satellite tuners you intend to have.

Thanks very much for all your quick replies.
Pretty much confirmed what I thought and answered what I wasn't too sure about.
One last question if I may be so cheeky.
Is one make of multiswitch regarded as better than another.
I am leaning towards a Triax at the moment.
Are the Triax good or is there better out there? Don't mind paying a bit more to get better quality and results.
