Exclamation SKY +, Quad LNB, freestat, How ???

Hi Guys,

Newbie so please bear with me.

I have SKY +, so im assuming I have a Quad LNB. I want freestat in the bedroom because digital reception in our area is crap.

Ive done a fair bit of digging in the forum and believe it is straight forward enough to connect a spare port of LNB via digital cabling to a second free stat box but cannot find a detailed describtion of how to do this (im a dumb ass, I do need one !)

Ok so I can buy a regualr sky box from Ebay, found some digital cabling but what connectors do I need. Also do I need to activate the box?

Does anyone know if a straght forward guide to this exists? I think I could get sky out to install multi room then cancle after the first month. But would be paying £100 + to do this.

Any help really appreciated, Muchos gracias, Fozz

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Spectrum analyser.

All you need is the appropriate length of satellite grade cable and two F connectors, you can get both from places like B&Q.

This Guide is for crimp connectors, but the method is the same for screw on type F connectors.

PS. why not just buy a Freesat receiver from one of the forum supporting advertisers.

Ta rolfw,

Sounds easy enough. I guess I just need another sky box.

Just been looking a freestat receivers. Looks good. I don't subscribe to any premium channels so would be ideal for me. Do love my SKY + though, but I assume can get receivers with hard drives anyway...

Cheers

Yes, the Humax HDR, which is specifically for Freesat.
