No Signal on second receiver!

Hi,

I have sky hd+, I have the old sky+ receiver that I wanted to connect in our kitchen so that we could watch free view via the old box. I have connected a third coax lead from the lnb to a female to female "f" barrel (6m) and then to the kitchen (40m). When I connected the lead to the receiver in the kitchen, I am unable to get a signal.

I then connected the old sky+ receiver to the 1st part of my new extension, so from the lnb to the old receiver about 6m - this worked ok. The 2nd part of my extension, the 40m coax lead to the kitchen was already in use via the RF out 1, the picture was never a very good quality this way either.

Can I get advice? do I need to run a new coax cable at a better quality or will an amp do the job?

An ideas?

Hello

Welcome to the forum quirko

Well I assume you had a quad output lnb to begin with then, if you are using the original rf out cable that was part of the internal house wiring, it will be the wrong cable and will more than likely be attenuating the signal, I am not clear what the short 6mtr length is doing, just take a lead from the lnb to the original sky+ unit in the kitchen.

Stick the second box in the kitchen with a cable direct from the dish , if it works, leave it well alone

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"

Just make sure you use satellite quality cable
