DB readings for communal system....

Hi there,

Really hoping some one can help me with an issue i have on a communal system with a very long cable run!!!!

I need to install a launch amp, but would like to know the best place to put it, ie at the signals strongest point?

Also, id like to know if there is a DB threshold on Sat signals as there is on UHF? 45-65 db being uhf, is Sat the same??

Again, would be so grateful if someone out there has the time to help me out!

Many thanks ;-)

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

Not being funny, but if you are unaware of such basic information, you should not be attempting a communal system install, as there are serious electrical safety elements involved of which you are no doubt also unaware.

I appreciate your concerns, however the communal system is a mini one, only serving 5 apartments in a small town in Italy.

The block has 3 of my family members along with my self and no earthing or cable runing is down to me, its the electrician on site.

So, without sounding to amateur, please can you help me with my original question? ;-)
