Phillips SWI 7508 E

Hi,

Please look at the photo below

_http://www.me.com/ro/danielshepherd2/Galleries/100015/Switch1.jpg?derivative=medium&source=web.jpg&type= medium&protocol=roap&item=galleries&asset=media&ve r=12536428360001

What are the "cut" knobs for on each input? There are the other two quattro lnb inputs not pictured at the top, so theres a 0db to -15db cut switch on each of the four Satellite inputs and then theres a 0 to -20db cut on the terrestrial input to.

Why would you even want to cut an input, especially terrestrial? What problems what not cutting the inputs have, why do more modern switches not have these "cut knobs" on?

Kind Regards

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.

I can't - and I guess you must be the only one who can!

No idea why, though?

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

Nope, must be in a private directory. Anyway, you need to upload it, as per the forum rules.

The attenuation knobs are to balance up the inputs, many people will install an IF amp prior to the switch.

Sorry Adolf...i mean rolf...

I dont know how to attach one to this anyway, you should program a new php interface to remove the img tag button if you really dont want people to use it though.

Anyway - why would you need to balance the inputs that was really what my question was about...why would you want to take up to 20 db of cut from the terrestrial input, why would you want to bring down as opposed to boost any signal in the path??

Thread closed, if you want help then follow the rules and when informed in a pleasant way of what you need to do, you don't call the Admin a Nazi.

Another point, if you can't work out how to upload an image, then you shouldn't be messing with multiswitches.

Bye.
