What a pity that it ain't working. I really wonder what you could get with 4m in Madeira.

Well to be more precise, i was thinking about Astra 1D/E/F/2D/3A, Thor 2/3, Sirius 2/3, Amos 1/2, W4 , Türksat 1C/2A, Hellas Sat 2, Eurobird 2, Eurobird 3, Atlantic Bird 4, NSS 7 West Africa Beam, W3A Africa Beam just to mention a few Ku Satellites in which i think it would be worth testing. From North/Central/South America, the Caribbean and Southern Africa i really don't expect that a 4m can get something but C-Band from there is worth to try as well. If only this dish would be motorised i wouldn't dare to think of what it could get.

Well for this monster i fear you might need a 2axis motor because of the very narrow main reception cone. On some satellites you might even need an autofocus system because of their inclination.

Since you've got a 3m dish (solid ?), can't you get Premiere with this ? I read in a german board some time ago that there is somebody on Madeira with a 3m solid and got it. Unfortunately not the same person was writing but another that didn't knew details. But since the switch from Astra 1F to 1E reception conditions might have been changed.

I dare to believe that you get full Premiere with only 1.3m since others in portuguese mainland struggle with this size or even bigger: http://www.satellites.co.uk/satellit...tml#post653859
You surely mean the transponders on 1G/H but i meant those much weaker on 1E.

Is a 3m enough for permanent reception also of all Astra 2D frequencies ?

Hi,
Yes (Sky) that what I said before ... the south beam we can get with 1,3m but 2D and north with 1,8m and up.
The reception in Madeira its diferent from the rest of main land and Canary Islands, we have a side or distortion in sattelite that we can get more sign than in other countrys.

Premiere we can get some movies channels with 1,3m, the rest we need 2,4m to get all and in good conditions.

Best Regard,

Neuron

So you do get Premiere 11720H/11758H/11798H/12032H with 2.40m on Madeira ? That would be impressive. Sounds really as there is a sidelobe.

And about Astra 2D, are all H+V frequencies receivable 24/7 with 1.80m ?

Well i didn't mean 1H. This is of course very easy: http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/astra1h.html

But 1E with the above mentioned frequencies looks like this:
