We can hopefully in this thread, discover who makes what.

This is the Technomate 2200.

Not badly made, runs quietly.

Fortecstar Turner

I'm pretty convinced that it is a moteck, just the latest model.

And also a Fortecstar Turner.

In fact, after taking it apart and putting it back together, it is now working again.

It's been sat in my garage for two years.

Golden Interstar GI-50-120

Here comes the Golden Interstar GI-50-120
As you can see it says DG-240 on the mainboard
And the maingear are made in plastic, as the spec for the DG-240
You can compare with the Powertech DG-240 here _http://sadoun.com/Sat/Products/PowerTech/Sadoun-DG240_HH_Motor.htm

Im so sorry for the bad quality, must been "One of those days"
It was suprising of whats inside.Maingear is in steel, the gearbox is made in aluminum.Notice the real bearing in the cover for the mainaxle. It all looks very solid made. The mainboard is the same as the Golden Interstar.
All mountingbolts are made of stainless steel even the U-bolts.
Zero backlash design,no adjust possible, automatic?

Would be great to see the inside of a Dark Box also and see if it is related to the Golden Interstar, as suggested by another member (Turok?)

Sorry Rolfw, I would do but all back together now and working 100%...if I get another chance I will ... sorry about the blur - bit rushed ... (I get dishes/lnb's in better focus- honest...)

found one ... had put it on the superjack ..he he ... both done !

Even though the Fortec Star Turner 2100 clone & the Moteck 2100 look like they are from the same blueprint, the quality of parts, production staff/ facilities and final QA could be quite different.

Thanks. Once we get a few of these, we should be able to determine origins of some of these motors.

Did you have any problems getting the main shaft out of the bearing.. the Superjack wouldn't budge, so to the bearing out with it still on the shaft ..

The Moteck 2100 & Clones (Fortec Turner etc..)

I think there is a weak point between the ali case of the motor and the main gearbox... if you've got one open for maintenance, I say it's worth using a hotmelt fillet between these two or use Araldite etc.. and make sure the bolts are tight on the motor..

@pedro2000uk
Just little tricky to get it out,but no problem.
In the sistermodel, the Golden Interstar, there was no bearing in the cover.

There is a special glue from Loctite 648 that you can use to glue the bearing in place.

Having not bought a motor from maplin due to them hiking up the prices
to counter the reduction in vat, they had two motors in the store.

Their own brand at £49.99 and a fortecstar at £59.99, the salesman
told me, both are moteck, rebadged it appears you pay an extra £10
for the fortecstar box.

maplins responce to price hike

a little out of place, but its was all to do with a sat motor I may have bought, then did not due to them hiking up prices., this is the response
has expected, dear John type
Dear Mr

Thank you for your email.

The average price of our offering is so low, we feel there would be little benefit in reducing the range by very small amounts, but it would be more beneficial to all our customers if our more expensive promotional products were discounted even further, therefore Maplin intend to keep the retail price on most of our offering the same, while adjusting the ex-vat rate to comply with the change to VAT.

Kind Regards

Becky Hey

Well they lost a customer on principle.

Techniomate 2200- made by Motek

According to The Wizard.. the Technomate 2200's are made by Motek anyway... Sat' Superstore say they are the strongest ones they have tested so they reversed their policy of not using Diseqc motors only 36v stuff ... hmmm. I suppose Motek could make a motor to Technomate's stronger spec... or they are yet more badged 2100s.
