Amazing. Beats our sun water heating systems on the roofs.
I am assuming that the most popular satellites are Nilesat and Hot Bird.
What other satellites are they pointing to?
By the way, is that air pollution in the background, or is just too early in the morning?

I think I recognise that mosque; isn't that somewhere near/in Mohandessin?

Yep, Nilesat and Hotbird are quite popular in Cairo from memory of when I lived there in 2k6.

Yer, It's pretty much all Nile sat and Hotbird, This is taken right next to the Pyramids. I was in the desert when I took the photo. It is air pollution in the back ground, Cairo is one of the most polluted cities in the world. This is on a good day.

Ah, Giza, Wrong by miles then! Still, the minarets are similar; and I should also have guessed that in Mohandessin, you'd need to pretty high to be able to film so many dishes on rooftops!
