Motorised Triax in France

I thought I'd post these before I move the Triax and swap it's position for the Zone 2 minidish.

The third photo shows the minidish and the Triax. I'm putting the Triax on 12" T & K's just to the right and further up the wall than the minidish at present. The hazel tree might be in the way for 30° West but if it is, my logging saw might slip!!

My System: andrews dish - jaeger 1224 motor, vantage x221tsci, skystar 2, diablo v2.3, cyfra+

looks nice, is the zone 2 for 28east ?

yes good choice on the t&k brackets as will be much stronger and then you can up the dish to 1metre if you want.

just trim the tree if it blocks 30west

Thanks guys. Yes Wod, the minidish is for 28E. Been there just over seven years now and still going strong. I've seen other people trying to manage on a Zone 1 here but they tend to suffer from rainfade in thunderstorms.

Trim the tree?? If you only knew what a hassle I had with trees!! Must add a pic looking South from the dish, then you'd all realise!!

Incidentally, the first pic is looking west - taken from the eastern side, not what I wrote. LOL, perhaps thats why I find the arc so difficult to align!!

If I'm not sure I get the digital level with one end at the bottom of the dish and the other end pointing at the top of the obstruction. As long as the true takeoff angle is greater than the one displayed on the level your in business.

Here are two photos showing present view of trees from window to the left of the dish (where it is mounted now). Hopefully, moving it about 2 metres will open up the gap created by some judicious pruning and allow me to see up to 42°E and possibly beyond.

Huevos, not sure what you meant LOL, but if I mount the Triax on the wall the hazel tree will present a problem at some westward point as a couple of branches grow diagonally west to east. However, I do think I can get away with some trimming on the basis, 'the branches may damage the roof!!'

SP, What I mean is I get my digital level and look along it pointing at the top of the tree. Then I look at the angle registered on the level. For example, for me, anything taller than 22º would be an obstruction for 45ºW/45ºE.

Huevos,

Ok, I understand now. However the hazel tree branches are about a metre in front of the intended dish position @ 30°W. They will come into play on the western side of the arc at some point, I'm kind of hoping that they may be inbetween two sats.

Wish I could get 45E - 45W lol!!

Hi,

Well I finally got the Triax moved, thanks to Debbie lugging over the T&K's and Laurent, a French guy who was staying with us for 10 days who drilled holes and fixed the mounts to the wall (I bought the pole!!)

I cannot stress just how important it is to have that pole vertical. Even if it's out by a couple of mm it's the difference between lock and no lock. (Well on certain sats anyway!).

I've lost 30W due to the repositioning as you will see from the photo, but have now captured 39/42/45E. So I'm quite pleased with the results
