53 -- 68.5 East

hi
just put together a - (probably temorary setup) -- just to cover the rest of the arc that i cant get with my other setup due to obstacles

the 80 cm that ive used is a bit under sized for these sats -- but due to the windswept location dont think its wise to go any bigger -- signal drops out in thick cloud and rain -- but i can live with that --

didnt know if 68.5 east would be possible here - on the edge of the yorkshire dales , -- but i just manage to get it .

regards - nelson_b

My System: andrews dish - jaeger 1224 motor, vantage x221tsci, skystar 2, diablo v2.3, cyfra+

nice one, how far up are you in the dales as the height above sea level will help with that reception

maybe a gibertini dish on the polar mount would last up there, is the dish attached to your garage ?

you tempted me to put my 90cm dish above the roofline to get around to 53east, anything interesting on it ?

hi --
i,m 160 metres -or just over 500 ft -- the nearest hills that are in line of sight of the 68.5 east satellite are about 6 miles away and are about 1800 ft -
according to dishpointer that sat has just 2.4 elevation from my location -- it must be practicaly sitting on the horizon l.o.l.

yes the pole is solidly fastened to the garage -- i,l just keep it there for a while to see what i can pick up -- some interesting feeds would be nice but i,m not holding my breath --

i just set it up to see if it was possible to get that far east from here -- and to get SABC news international (south african) on 68.5 east -- i like to see and hear different points of view
53 e is mainly russian channels -- i can get signals from 57 e -and - 62 e but nothing realy to interest me there

cheers n_b

2.5 doesn't sound very high, but it's five times the diameter of the sun.
