1M Gibertini Motorised

Well after a long while I managed to get some pictures up of my install.

I still need to chop down the bolts on the back of the dish, when I get a new blade for the hacksaw.

You can see the use of some 'stones' to slightly push the pole a little more vertical on the one side. One day I may get around to sorting this properly, but until i pave over the bottom of the garden then I am going to leave it as is.

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.

Very nice - thankyou for posting those.

Just one suggestion, if I may be so bold?

Repeated back and forth movement of the dish across the arc will eventually cause the LNB to Motor cable to come loose at the Motor end F connector. The remedy is to use a slightly longer piece of cable and to secure said cable as close as you can to the Motor end using a cable tie to something that doesn't move eg Pole.

This means that the "pivot" for that cable is no longer the F connector.

Also, do check that neither cable gets snagged on clamp bolts etc. as the Dish approaches the ends of the arc (I note you're planning to cut the bolts down anyway).

My System: andrews dish - jaeger 1224 motor, vantage x221tsci, skystar 2, diablo v2.3, cyfra+

very good install you have done there.

perhaps something to add to the pole to keep it level like a piece of metal bar that bolts to the fence post maybe to make it rigid ?

My System: Technomate TM 500, Gibertini 1M Dish, Technomate TM-2300 Super, Inverto Black Ultra 0.2dB LNB, 53E - 30W

Due to the gale force winds a few weeks ago I had to redo my setup.

I came back from work and the dish which had been left at 13e was on more like 53e .

There was some play in the pole and the wind turned the dish around on the pole.

Removed the dish and pole and set to work on the hole again. This was no easy task as the old concrete was at the bottom of the hole and took some getting out.

1 bag of concrete mix 2 bags of sharp sand and 1/2 bag of pebbles made some mean motar for the hole. Also added some half bricks and rocks that were lying about the garden. Left all this to set for 2 days and then added 2 bags of post cement over the top for good measure.

Resulting in a pole that is 100% vertical with 0 play and a job that should have been done in the first place.

I have learned the hard way and should have done this on my first attempt.

Some sort of bracing might be a good idea also.
Nice job

Yes, nice work (In the end! - Mind you, I haven't exactly been immune to wind related failures over the years)

I agree with SM about bracing - that Pole is quite long and not only will the stresses where it enters the base be considerable, but the Dish end of things is likely to wave in the wind.

Thanks for the replys lads. I will sort some bracing to the fence post once I renew it as it is really weak and not well founded at the moment.

Both screens are from my TM500 with the UR image.

Hi Shamone,

Nice install.

I also have a 1m Gib and found that if you take the lnb to motor cable and pass it over the top then down between the motor body and mast mount then back up to the connection on the motor it makes for a neater job and may possibly keep the cable away from the extended dish bolts. Photos of my setup are also posted in this section if you want to have a look.

Out of interest, whereabouts in the NE? My mum lives in Langley Park!
