My humble setup

1st ever install of anything outside like a satellite dish, have never even put an aerial up. Here is my attempt at installing a Penta 85cm and a TM-2600 Motor.

Very good indeed - I've been following your Posts with interest and they are an inspiration to others who might be considering DiY

Excellent - subject to line of sight you might try 58W sometime: There are occasionally Sports Feeds on there.

You'll get the BT Towers on 11477H if you can see 58W - they are a permanent fixture on the satellite.

My System: Sky+HD Astra+Hotbird FTA on 60 cm dish

Thats a nice neat job you have done there, the cabling is excellent. And i like the odd shaped dish makes it less noticable than a round dish.

Just a little update, i have been getting around 85% on the BBC channels on 28.4E, i got up the ladders again and rotated the lnb a little bit (skew?) i am now getting 97% on this sat and all the rest are increased aswell. So i am very happy with it now

28E Birds have an element of pre-skew, uniquely.

I think this was done in order to facilitate design of the Sky type LNBs, which have only a limited skew adjustment.

So on a motorised dish it could be detrimental to adjust the LNB to optimise 28E as it throws out the skew on every other Satellite.

Generally, it's best to leave it at zero skew (Top Dead Centre for your South Satellite) and accept the slightly imperfect results on 28E: After all, 28E is string enough to cope!

But this is a hobby and the theory is just there to be ignored

i have noticed increases on all satellites, i actually re-aligned the skew on 1W but it happened to increase the signal on 28E aswell.

Yes, I saw that in your earlier Post that you'd got across the board improvement, but I thought you'd done it at 28E - my apologies.

The only reason why all Satellites would be better now, purely as the result of tweaking Skew, is that it actually wasn't zero Skew at motor zero before.

But well done on gaining all round improvement

Maybe you could have another look-see at BT5 on 58W now .........

The slight skew error you had might have been the reason you couldn't get 58W earlier - It gets pretty darned critical at the very ends of the arc!

Go on - you know you want to

i have now added 58W to my satellites.xml and done a scan, however it did not find any, i think it maybe due to me living in a valley and i am at the bottom of it or maybe the tree's that way on.
