I thought I'd start a new thread for this one as this is the first time I've used my "tiny Hispa" dish sideways - plus it's in a different location! I've gotta have my spanish telly even when I'm crashing at my parents'!
It's the first time I've tried this dish sideways and I was gobsmacked with the results. On Hispasat I get nearly all the stronger signals (both H and V) at 91% quality. That's around about the best signal you can get on this receiver (Fortec Ultimate) - only some transponders at 19e/28e through my properly installed outdoor fixed dish (back at mine) come in at a higher percentage.
Also, I tried the dish outdoors (and the right way up!) and wasn't getting these kinds of results!
I found Atlantic Bird 3 easy enough, just tuned into the France TV transponder and swung the dish roughly in the direction I figured it needed to point. 91% - I love that transponder, loud and clear, rain and shine. Shame there's not more like it in that part of the sky. Got the MCM/Globecast transponder too (nice feed from ETB Spain at the time!) Whilst in that neighbourhood I decided I may as well try 8 west. Couldn't get much other than Eutelsat test cards and the new Arabic FTA transponder. Some english language programming there.
And so to Hispasat... I stumble upon it accidently as it happens! I thought I had the dish pointed at Sirius. How wrong was I!

Not even close! As much as I tried telling myself that the dish really wasn't pointing in the direction I imagined because it was offset to the side, I still managed to fluff it up.
