the jaeger 1224? not a good idea to mount the heavy channel master dish on.

Why don't you galvanize it and just put it in a zink bath?

I hope you put ball bearings on the moving axel othewise it will wear fast.

Nice mount have you got it on the dish yet,

Could you not powder coat the mount as that is all that is on the standard andrews one,

If not hammerite it a few coats would do the trick,

If you used bearings on the mount would you needed the mount to get remade???,

The dish isnt on yet m8, not had alot of time, and weather is shit.

there is a company that galvenise`s metal, as we make car door strikers and send them off, local too. maybe I could slip it in and get my company to pay! lol

Dont think im going to use bearings, my bro in law said as long as its greased wel should be ok. But he did have land rover bearings on there, but removed them for some reason.

I assume this dish is up.Crossbones as a matter of interest did you use bearings. Also built a polar mount using brass bushes and wonder if nylon bushes will do the job as well.

Crossbones... I noticed this the other day and since we also design/ build steelwork and 2 years have passed.... I was wondering how the polar mount has performed without bearings or bushes and what steel was used at the axes points.. mild steel / medium carbon steel and was threaded bar used. It looked a very good job.

Hi pedro,

Well to be honest, I only had it installed for about three months.

The mount was shaky, used to move in the wind. But I've been told that genuine C/master mounts do the same??

The actuator I had was not powerful enough, it used to struggle to pull the very heavy dish up from 30w.

It was made from mild steel.
The axis was held together with a nut n bolt.

it moved very well though!
