My System: Channel Master 1.2 driven by Supermount SMR 1224 mount. V-Box 11 Triple Dragon Linux Receiver. Vantage VT-X221TSCI Blindscan Receiver. Diablo Wireless cam and base. 42" Panasonic Plasma. 50" Pioneer Kuro Plasma Lots of boys toys!
My pictorial introduction!!

Been in the 'sat scene' for over 10 years now and finally joined this forum after time on several rivals!
My current set up consists of a Triple Dragon stb , 1.2 mtr Channel Master dish driven by 1224 H-H. (And a big flat roof!!)
Also in the set up is a diablo and soon to HD multisat receiver to go with my Panny Viera and subsciption HD box.
Previous sat systems have been the 90cm Gregorian by Fibo and a range of Humax/Echostar receivers!
I can see 72 East over to 45 West , I should be able to see further west but for some reason can't lock Intelsat 9(58 W).
Am always up for a chat , so feel free , anyway heres some pics of my stuff and received channels!
Heres to a friendly forum!
Regards Pete

Nice set up and dish, complemented by the 1224

Smile

A 1.8!!! You should have seen me struggling at 6 in the morning to get the 1.2 up there!! 6 concrete blocks , a non penetretive roof stand and a 1.2 dish thru a fire escape hatch is a story in itself!!!!
Might crane the 1.8 up next year!
Thanks for the kind comments

Your user name should be Paul daniels!

Would never have thought that dish would have fitted through there

Maybe your next dish will have to be in segments lol

Was touch n go but being offset it went thru with inches to spare!!!
If a 1.2 Fibo Gregorian turns up for sale I may go back to that , but unfortuneately 1.2 is the roofs max unless I crane it up or like you said segment it!!
Scientifically though , has anyone ever compared reception between a Greogorian 1.2 and a Channel Master with Andrews feedhorn?

Good question mate. I would also like to know.

The Gregorian 1.2m is said to be the equivalent of a 1.4m dish.

I have a friend in Denmark that have a SMW 140cm Offset and Fibo 120cm.

The Fibo is comparable to the SMW, and the SMW is one of the best standard Offset dishes ever made in ABS plastic, its called OA-1400 or more exact the "Jumbo" dish.

My old 90cm Fibo was performing like a 1.2 mtr but this was in the days of analogue and D2 Mac.
Nowadays I doubt the benefit above 1.2 (around the UK at least) is as great due to digital broadcasts being stronger and mor accurately footprinted.
With the 1.2 Channel Master coupled with Andrews feedhorn and inverto white tech I pull in all bar one or two from 58 west over to 72 east but more is always a good thing and the Fibo's are an awesome dish.
Pic is of my old 90!

Do you still have the Fibo left? if so, could you make a signal comparison to your CM 120cm?

A dealer i knew back in the 80's got his first Fibos and he wanted me to come and check the performance as he told me it peforms almost like a 120cm dish, i laughed at him and said it would be impossible.

This was back in the old D2-MAC days in 1989.

I got to the shop and they had a demo corner with different channels showing from both Eutelsat 13 East and Intelsat 27.5W with Childrens Channel, CNN, ScreenSport etc etc....

Then he showed two TVs showing Childrens Channel on Intelsat 27.5W.

The right one was a Prodelin 120cm Offset, the left one was the Fibo 90cm.

He told me, can you see any difference? not much i told him, there are some fewer sparklies on the right screen i said.

After this he told me what dishes he used and when he told me the left screen was the Fibo i laughed once at him and said it can't be true.

Yes it's true he said, the Fibo is almost performing like the Prodelin due to the second subreflector.

I was schocked after seeing it.

I have not made any shoot-out but i would guess the Fibo 90 performs like a good 110cm Offset, SWE-DISH says the Fibo is performing like a 15% larger dish so that would be the approximate and close to 110cm
