My System: Golden Interstar sat box windows xp | I have the .bin update on my computer for this sat box & have connected relevent cables (serial port). When I go into System Setting & try to upgrade all I get is "Please unplug and then plug in the STB power cord" I do this & nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? My PC doesn't appear to be connected. Should I be doing something different? Many thanks

Welcome to the forum aeb38 Perhaps you are using the wrong type of cable? i.e. is it a null modem cable? What software are you using on your PC? When you say system setting do you mean on the stb? If so that setting is normally used for OTA downloads over the air from the satellite not for flashing via a com port

My System: Golden Interstar sat box windows xp | Hi See attachmentAttachment 18600 Didn't know had to use any sort of software for upgrade. Just got the zip bin file software upgrade from Golden Interstar site as software not been updated since 2006. Yes it is null modem cable. System setting yes, stb. As I am very, very new to all this; I'm probably doing it all wrong so can someone explain SLOWLY what software I need or what to do as why is it saying use serial cable? Thank you.

You need a null modem cable, but more importantly a software program for the transfer from PC to your STB. Where you get one from I have no idea, all searches I've done bring up Russian sites. They have a comprehensive website _http://golden-interstar.com/downloadcenter.php The download section is about as useful as a chocolate teapot perhaps the email address will get you some sort of response, on the other hand perhaps not unless your German is any good. You could of course use Google translation
