I work on a ship with a seatel motorised dish system which I find very interesting.
Problem is it seems to have stopped receiving anything with a symbol rate of 22000.
Tracking is fine as is channels with a S/R 27500.
Any ideas on probable cause ?
LNB ?

Hello

Welcome to the forum Jimmy 777

I cannot think of any reason that could create that scenario. It is unlikely to be an lnb problem, can you give more details e.g. which satellite and what channel are you trying to receive.

Hi,
I am trying to receive bbc and itv free to air channels.
Also tried hooking up a freeview box but no signal presumably as freeview is on S/R 22000.
It worked no problem previously and the digiboxes are definately looking at the correct frequencys when searching.
The signal comes though a multiplex switch if that could have anything to do with it.
I have e-mailed the suppliers but no response yet.

It could be that the ship is now at a position where you now have borderline reception of the lower symbol rate channels.

Thanks for reply but the signal strength appears good, I tested it alongside in Tees Port Middlesborough.
I did suspect quality wasnt so high about 40%

Also on 22000 I get absolutely zero strength or quality and I have 8 digi boxes to compare, 3 humax, 2 fantasy, 3 echostar.
Also a freesat box but that was really an experiment.

It does sound then like the splitter system is acting as a filter to notch out the lower rate.

Can you run a cable direct from the dish to receiver ?

Rather than looking at the symbol rate, compare polarity and band, see if the channels you cannot receiver are all vertical, all horizontal, all low band (under 11.600mhz). See if you can receive anything on 11.222H 27500 2/3

I've not heard of a multiswitch fault which will cause problems with only certain symbol rates, far more likely to be a fault with perhaps an LNB input from the quattro LNB.

Hi Guys,

Thing is I have 8 receivers in total.
Quad LNB yes but all receivers are playing up the same.
The 27500 S/R Channels are on horizontal and vertical so no problem there, the frequency I will have to look at.

Great forum bye the way.

Have now checked and I am getting channels Low and high frequency on 27500 2/3. Still zero on 22000 5/6.
Running a cable is not possible as the Dish is up a mast in a dome with terrible access i.e cherry picker required.
No design awards there.

Problem now solved and all channels booming in half way to Norway (you can put me back in International).
Polang was out, supposed to be between 0 - 80 but should be 40 and adjusted up or down (no i didnt climb up there, the adjustment is by motor).
Its now working on 20.
Its supposed to adjust on auto but doesnt work.
Signal quality is now 75%. on 22000 channels.

Well glad you are well, sort of sorted but just for future reference, what do you mean by the phrase 'polang was out'?

Polang

POL Polang (Polarization Angle) Position. Appears in place of REL
display in entry mode. Display is numeric value of polang
position or ALPHA display of HORZ, LHCP, VERT, RHCP
polarizations. NS/EW key selects HORZ, LHCP, VERT, RHCP
presets. UP/DOWN keys adjust Polarization angle clockwise or
counter-clockwise for fine tuning.

Thanks for your help chaps, We are in bad weather off the coast of Norway and rolling about and tracking 28E fine, system has a 48" dish so still good signal at edge of foot print.
