My System: satelite - hotbird Receiver - Daydream - DRM1000
still have problem

hello
I downloaded the uploader and instructions from the site you refered.
But when I start the uploader and connect the receiver as per instructions , nothing happens ... 'connect your receiver and turn it on' message remains.
I use a laptop and it has no com port I use usb to serial adaptor.
my present port settings are as follows:-
Prolific usb to serial common port(com4)
bits per second - 9600
data bits - 8
parity - none
stop bits - 1
flow control - none

your help highly appreciated.

Hi

Have you downloaded the software as you dont mention it.
It could be that your cable is not suitable or that your settings are incorrect.
Have you a manual to look at as it might help

This could indeed be your problem, I have a few years experience with these USB to serial adaptor cables and they often do not work for no particular reason at all.

Try to get an old laptop from a friend and try again

Are you trying with a serial cable or a null modem cable, there is a big difference

My System: STRONG 4620x

ٍSALAM

I have the same receiver , and as Topper said the problem is located in the connection cable . you should make the connection with a (9 nine) pin cable
RS-232C ( one end is male & the other end is Female cable )

and connect your PC to the receiver . that will solve your problem .

It is not a big deal , this cable's type is available in the computer shops .

But , you should ensure that the last manufacturer software version is

SRT4620X_4651X_4654X_116_20081009.stb

you can download it from the manufacturer official site
(strong-technologies.com) along with the uploader program as Topper told you .

if you need any further assistance please send a mesage , no problem

Regards

You are right , Both ends are female

SALAM

I am so sorry , after checking the other end which is permenantly connected to my reciver I found it also Female , SO , BOTH ENDS ARE FEMALE

The last version is SRT4620X_4651X_4654X_173p_20081230.stb

I just receive it today , as you see the date is DEC. 30 ,2008 . through STRONG Technical support center in DUBAI , you may contact them and they will send it to you.

Also as Topper said you have to check that your cable is wired as per the picture above. that to confirm your cable and ( 9 pin outlets are OK )

if you have any problem to contact them please let me know and I will send you their Email address ( if that be allowed from this site adminstrator)

REGARDS

Ermm

Well there is almost nothing open these days to speak of and what is open i.e. 1 deg West Digi TV could go dark any day. If you have loaded firmware from the manufacturer I doubt that would open anything, you would need a patch to do that and I am not aware that unofficial firmware is still being made for the Strong stb's

From your location in Saudi Arabia I very much doubt ANYTHING can currently be opened on that receiver.
