My System: Multi feeds from sky dish, currently using Fortec Star 4400 | I have just installed a fortec star 4400 which i bought from Maplin. Chuffed with myself for being able to get it all working, not really one of my strengths! However, I can not get subtitles off, which has now taken me longer to work out than the whole install! Any help greatly appreciated http://www.satellites.co.uk/php-bin/forum/images/smilies/smilies/angryfire.gif

Welcome to the forum pkteach I do not have a fortecstar but if there is no button on the remote to press that says text or subtitles, I can only suggest trying the main setup menu. On most equipments these days you can enable or disable subtitles from the main menu. Having said that I have a Sony DVD player and an accidental combination of key strokes when picking up the remote sometimes switches them on and they refuse to go until the DVD has finished

My System: Multi feeds from sky dish, currently using Fortec Star 4400 | many thanks for the quick response, and offer of suggestions. This site is amazing. I have tried from the remote text/subtitle button but no joy, and can not see any settings on setup. Still very pleased that I was able to set the whole thing up!

You should be chuffed with yourself, it a a great buzz viewing the thousands of channels beaming across this tiny earth of ours. It's a great hobby if you have that essential quality....patience, which obviously you have well done

My System: Fortec Star 4400 / Windows XP | Oh. I can answer this, although you've probably figured it out by now. The default factory setting is for subtitles to be permanently on. To turn off the subtitles, you need the following path: Menu System Setup OSD Setting Change the "Subtitle Display" setting to "Off" and exit back out of the menu.
