My System: sky hd box, no subscripton, 3mtr sat dish,
setting default transponder changed

Hi, i have a problem that i'm trying to sort, i'm in uk but my wife is in cyprus having trouble and needs talking through this.
we have a black and grey sky hd box, usually to change the default transponder number for cyprus from 11778 to 11740 we just go into services, system setup, 01 select, 2 defaualt transponder, change the number and save the settings etc , a few days ago sky did an update over night and now all the menu screens have changed and are completely different and we cant find a way of getting into the system setup to change the transponder number. can anyone help please?
thanks

My System: Sky Freesat in UK, Astra 1 ana/dig in UK using Technomate -5000 DAPCI, Astra 2 South Beam and Eurobird in Spain.

I don't think Sky have altered their menu settings, we would have heard something if they had. What you said you normally do (services, system setup, then - 0 - 1 select etc is correct). Have you tried unplugging the box, then plugging in again, to see if that sorts it? I can't think of anything else.

hi, yes unplugged the box etc, usually when you go into services you get a menu which has system setup etc, but these are now all new menus and set up isnt in it, we had a satalite engineer out, he thought my wife just couldnt do it but when he arrived he couldnt figure it out either and said he'd have to search the internet, he then got a phone call from someone else with the same box and same problem. thanks anyway

i taake it you have the new HD menu and not the traditional one...in which case the way to get intot he instaler set up menu has changed...

apparently you can access the secret "installer set up menu" on the new EPG a number of ways...(all very similar or the same just worded differently!)

TV Guide 0 01 Select
or
0 1 SELECT on picture settings menu
or
SERVICES, RIGHT, DOWN, 01 SELECT
or
1. If a switch on it says no signal and 29 in the video window box then.
2. Press TV Guide Button.
3. go to the top (Fuctions) Bar.
4. scroll thru to Settings menu.
5. scroll down to "Picture".
6. then press 0,1,select quickly to get to service menu

well i suppose it would also depend if the HD EPG is available on other frequencies like the main one...

the main (old) EPG data is fully available on 11778.
but just about all other trasnponders have 6 hours available.

hence, why if your box will not boot up using 11778, you change the defualt transponder to another, and the box managed to load up the 6ish hours of epg data it need to work.

but

if the HD EPG is only available on ONE frequency, then changing the default transponder will not work.

another poster (on here - cheers bill!) suggested that the a new datastream on 12460H (a north beam) could well be the the new HD epg datastream...in which case the new HD epg could be tricky for people to get...

this is speculation - i have not confirmation of where the new EPG sits, or if it is indeed only available on one frequency, but at the moment, as the changing default transponder process does not help "boot up" a slyhd box then there could be somehting in this..
could this be a way that sly are stopping people viewing outside the UK?

And I was in Peyia last week. I don't know why 11.778 is so weak over there. In Limassol it is weak during the day, especially in the Summer, but okay in the evening.
Why do you need to change the default transponder ? It usually only needs changing if the digibox is searching for listings and then goes to no signal .
